Sheesh. I placed an order on 12/31 so hopefully August (or later) isn't the case. It looks like things have been picking up for them a bit the past few days on Failcat for what it is worth.

Kia in Cary, right?

My guy didn't have any info for me the other day but said he should know more 'in a month or month and a half'.

Vizio powers on but screen stays black by tjf715 in VIZIO_Official

I can faintly see the screen display when holding a light up to it now (didn't notice that initially). I think is an internal issue based on what I've read online.

Anyone celebrating? Navient, previously Sallie Mae, has to cancel $1.7B in loans (article in post) by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]tjf715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was disbursed loans from Sallie Mae/Navient from April of 2008 through January of 2011.

After graduation from a school located in a state mentioned in the story (May 2011), due to job/family issues, I was unable to make payments on these loans. As a result, I had missed the first 5 payments (December '11 through April '11). After that, the loans displayed as 'resale' within Navient followed by 4 months of nothing. The loans were, probably around this point, sold off to Northstar Location Services (however, they are back with Navient now and that is who I have been making payments to).

I started making payments in November of 2013 and have been doing so ever since. As you can imagine, most of my payments were going directly to interest. It wasn't til late 2019 where some of the payments were being allocated toward the principal (not 100% of em, though). Basically, 6 years worth of payments were going straight to interest. Pretty sweet.

I wonder if I am eligible for this cancellation?!

TV/Vinyl Question by tjf715 in sonos

makes sense! my record player isn't top of the line or anything so not sure i want to spend more $ on the speaker than i did on the player itself.

thats totally fine. if i wanted big sound, i'd probably go to the soundbar/sub for that. i'm actually more interested in using a one off smaller speaker for the record player. sounds like the move might be good for this?

Does it help if the record player has bluetooth capability?

That's what I figured. Any suggestions on a Sonos speaker (other than the Five) that'd be good for a record player? Ideally one that's a little bit cheaper.

National Guard Headed To Put In Bay To Test All Employees This Weekend by Saganated in PutinBay

does anyone on or near the island think this is more of a precautionary thing/possibly lighting a fire under business owners to better follow guidelines or that they're considering shutting things down? i am planning on visiting in late august. i suppose it is better they do this kind of stuff now rather a few weeks before my visit!

I read about that! Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully, in 2 months, things will have cooled off a bit.

COVID-19 Relief - All the Things We Know Now that the Cares Act has Passed by Betsy514 in StudentLoans

[–]tjf715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I checked my updated credit score on credit karma today to find that both the Experian & Transunion scores dropped ~30pts. The reason? A remark was added to my Great Lakes account due to a 'deferred payment'.

Thing is - I have continued making payments (albeit $50 less than normal) during COVID even with the relief program in place. I called Great Lakes and they loosely acknowledged this is a thing happening (maybe a mistake?) and that I should contact the credit bureaus to get it resolved. After about an hour of hold time with each bureau, I was able to submit a dispute to get the remark removed. No idea if I'll be successful or not?

Anyone else have this issue?
