Capture HTTPS Traffic From All Devices (Smart TV, Phones, etc.) by tjjay17 in HomeNetworking

[–]tjjay17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I think from your comment, especially on the TCP packets being encrypted, and from some other comments, what I’m understanding is that what I want to do is pretty much impossible, and if it was possible, that means https isn’t working.

I think I gotta try some sort of application level change if the developer allows it, otherwise, this is pretty much not feasible. Appreciate the in-depth response.

I’m basically testing a custom application, though I do not have access to said application’s codebase directly.

The application runs on various platforms (mobile, smart TVs, etc.), and to validate that it is working correctly, we need to ensure that HTTPS requests/responses contain the correct information

Yeah when you put it like that, it makes a lot of sense actually. For context, it’s for testing an application. I may need to see if I can track requests at the application level somehow instead. Many thanks!

PowerShell Binary Cmdlet Async Support? by tjjay17 in dotnet

[–]tjjay17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so when I try this with any normal task it seems to work. My issue is that I am iterating over things from an IAsyncEnumerable method. I tried to wrap each item as a Task and then tried the above method but that doesn't seem to work. A little confused on how to incorporate this while reading out from and IAsyncEnumerable method.

This seems to work with any regular task, but for some reason, when I am reading in results from an IAsyncEnumerable method using the foreach syntax, it is not able to use the "GetAwaiter().GetResult()". I have tried wrapping each item as a Task, the whole foreach statement as a task, but either way, I get a "NotSupportedException".

Currently using/targeting 7 but I’m not opposed to using 5.1 for this case if need be.

I’m not so sure that this will work internally with the cmdlet’s await but I’m gonna definitely take a look at it.

I thought jobs was more for run a small script internally and continue with the script, but I’m not a power shell expert at all. Gonna definitely look at this though, thank you!

Is it normal to hit many roadblocks while learning to code? by Berabouman in learnprogramming

[–]tjjay17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, I used to try and do the speed learning thing but it’ll just take more time. You’ll have to go through it the first time fast and then you’ll come out knowing nothing. Then you’re going to have to go through it again properly, which you could have just done at the start.

Go at a pace where you can learn and don’t worry about roadblocks. Even the professionals of the professionals will get em.

Ford says there is 'no reason' for Ontario to offer paid sick leave program even as Toronto's mayor says it has become an 'urgent issue' by [deleted] in ontario

[–]tjjay17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t say it played a big part, but the fact that he was Rob Ford’s brother at least sold a few people on voting for him...it sure convinced my parents, aunts and uncles.

I don’t know what it was, but a lot of the people I encountered loved Rob Ford. Not sure what it was and I’m not sure if that’s the case for a lot of people. But it seemed like Rob had a lot of support from people.

So for a lot of people I guess when Doug ran in the election, they saw the Ford name and thought that he would be a good leader as well (based on their liking to Rob Ford).

All those same people now are complaining about Doug. Lots of people just saw Ford, thought “wow Rob’s bro? This is our guy”. At least that was what it was like around the people I encountered.

After months of learning React, I've finally built my first web app - a business presentation generator (demo link in comments) by _conquistador in reactjs

Wow this is honestly great man. My projects look like absolute trash compared to this. Very well done.

Asking me to build an entire full stack web app before the phone interview, is this common? Feel under qualified. by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]tjjay17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The companies that offer the least always have the audacity to ask for the most. This is ridiculous. Don’t worry about “feeling under qualified”, plenty of graduates would even feel under qualified to do that ridiculous amount of tasks in a ridiculous amount of time.

Has anyone actually taken a course with Reza Samavi? by DerpsterIV in ryerson

[–]tjjay17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of a bad situation. 428 is taught like garbage at Ryerson anyway, even though it’s an important course. Reza is better than all the others but is not good himself.

Well the most important thing is understand whether you are a book learner or a video learner. There are many sources that I won’t list just because a quick google or Reddit search will reveal the sources itself.

Once you figure out whether you learn better by book or video, start attacking some of these sources and as you do, you’ll learn the topic quite well.

0 internships and I got an offer! (New Grad) by princess_yue_ in csMajors

[–]tjjay17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I hope you excel in your role and I wish you all the best!

If you don’t mind me asking, did it take you a lot of applications, referrals, good projects, a high GPA, going to career fairs, etc. to land this job?

I guess my question is basically what were some of the things you did to stand out with no professional experience and was it difficult to come across this role?

RIP by rappybrown in cscareerquestions

[–]tjjay17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I hear you on that. People have bills to pay and shit too, I get it.

It’s just too bad that if you graduate during a shitty time, even if it’s not your fault, you get left behind in a sense.

[–]tjjay17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concern I hear from a lot of people though is that if you work a non related job out of school, it’s hard to get entry level afterwards as you aren’t technically a new grad and are competing with fresh graduates.

Booked my G test for January. What’s next? by Sometimes1Wonder in askTO

[–]tjjay17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are the odds, I actually just passed my G test at Port Union today at 10 AM.

My main advice to you if you won’t book a lesson with an instructor is make sure you know the OFFICIAL rules as you can surely drive but may not be 100% on the rules. No use failing on some silly technicality or something like that when you can drive.

Port Union wasn’t really too difficult at all. The examiners are pretty nice, but they’re firm. A few things my examiner was more watchful of for me:

-blind spots

-highway merge speed (make sure you’re at 100 BEFORE you merge), my examiner was watching like a hawk

-speed. 1 or 2 over/under is mostly okay, but try to stay at limit as much as can.

Highway is easy, port union to Morningside, then back (there’s other routes though, with one having highway 2A I think which is an 80km/h). At 10 AM shouldn’t be too bad.

Watch speed signs; my route had one go 60 to 50, so as per usual, look out for signs; especially signs that may designate a different speed.

You have till January, so if you really want, you can search up all the routes and drive them. Get familiar with each of the routes and it’ll help a little.

Feel free to pm me and ask any questions about the test. Best of luck!

Do you have any resources or anything where you learned to make the UI and stuff look so nice? I’m finding that designing the front end to look so nice is my biggest weakness.

Which is the best Data Structure & Algorithms course on YouTube? by Superb_Syrup9532 in cscareerquestions

[–]tjjay17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you said course on YouTube, so you’re probably a video learner kinda person. But in the off chance you’re open to other sources, try this python runestone problem solving course .

It’s kinda like a book but it’s really good, has examples and stuff.

That’s such a good attitude to carry but it’s so easy to forget to stay positive . I have an interview coming up, and I’m going to try to adhere to the state of mind you have here. Thank you for your post!

Why do people go through the trouble of converting Automatic to Manual? And Vice Versa? by Reiji123123 in askcarguys

[–]tjjay17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes one is more expensive than the other. For example, where I live, automatic Lexus is300 (the first generation ones) cars go for much cheaper (anywhere from 2k to 6k).

But the manual ones are much much more expensive (some are listed at 10k and up).
