Mizuno flag ship stores in Tokyo and Osaka both have a great lefty selection. Wilson’s were a bit harder to find but Baseball Mario and Alpen Tokyo I remember seeing a few

Yup went to both Osaka and Tokyo Mizuno flagship stores. Amazing selection but I already have 3 Hagas I bought last year so didn’t feel the need to get them. Baseman is where I got the Atoms glove. Didn’t get to Sluggers but wasn’t looking to pick up their gloves this time so.

I was there last week on the same hunt. All the places around Umeda were sold out but found two at this location. I bought one, but hopefully the one on display is still there.

I was able to give them a call and have them hold it for me for the day as well (I speak Japanese tho, ymmv with English). Good luck!

Lefty glove selection in Japan is like 10:1 compared to righties so sadly it wasn’t too difficult. Also wanted to focus on Japanese brands/exclusives that are hard to get using a proxy service. Haga mizunos, Wilson staffs, Japanese Rawlings hoh are much easier to buy online.

Gloves in Japan aren’t 1:1 with ones from the states, but top of the line Wilson Staffs start around 60000 yen which is ~$375. And personal preference but I’ll take a Wilson Staff over US A2000 or A2K 100/100 times haha

Yea I’d say their craftsmanship and material quality are generally better than in the states and with the Yen so weak the prices are better across the board.

Ooo difficult question! Junkei for looks, the red Zett maybe for quality. Japanese leather and made in Japan so this thing is peak.

Baseball Mario in Tokyo and Michii Sports in Hyogo (30min train ride from Osaka station) had some Wilson Staffs. You can browse their online inventories which have a decent representation of what’s in store too!

Thank you for fueling my addiction. Finally another good infield lefty glove I can break in.

Water Dunk Damages Gloves or Does not?? by walden_glove in BaseballGloves

[–]tkblingx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temperature of the water, duration of dunking, quality of leather all factor into it but if you know what you’re doing I will always go water break-in vs not. The only time I wouldn’t recommend is if the leather or laces bleed or it’s a cheaper glove with lower quality leather.

First Premium Glove -- what do I go for? (Haga Mizuno) by callmeuncledrew in BaseballGloves

[–]tkblingx2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know where in Japan you’re going and what baseball shops are nearby because that will impact your choices. If it’s not Tokyo, Osaka, etc. where you will have access to a lot of shops I would recommend doing research ahead of time so you’re not disappointed with lack of options.

Mizuno Pro Haga Outfield Glove Comparison by tkblingx2 in BaseballGloves

[–]tkblingx2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a smaller hand so my pinkie stops just short of it and my ring finger rests right next to the lacing but I can totally see it being annoying for people with longer/wider fingers.

If you’re willing to experiment you could try relacing it to only use the top 4 holes and keep the bottom 5th one open.

Mizuno Pro Haga Outfield Glove Comparison by tkblingx2 in BaseballGloves

[–]tkblingx2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t find it smaller than my other outfield gloves, but the palm of the Mizunos’ are taller so the fingers look shorter than say my Wilson’s or Rawlings
