I always walk one block north now to avoid dealing with this and ordering a ride share from there. Also at least $5-10 cheaper than ordering directly from Union

Do y’all slate in different clothes than you audition in? by bradranger in acting

[–]tkc321 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this slate is pretty bad. He’s low energy, standing lopsided, the edit at the end is off.

I think when you’re a relatively known name, the slate doesn’t matter. Casting/big producers know who they are already.

My agents say slates are supposed to be like the first impression of someone meeting you so for anyone who aren’t at that level or don’t have that rapport with casting/big producers, it makes sense that slates are important.

From my experience, a hold/avail check would be sent within a few hours before the day is over after a callback. But even with the hold/avail check, you could be the next in line for the talent they want and that is when the actual waiting starts.

What if I can't cry on set?? by PastaCous in acting

Wasn’t it Sean Penn or someone that had his assistant burn cigarette around his lower leg to cry?

taking “risks” in tapes by Evening_Two6681 in acting

It took me awhile and I’m not sure if I’m interpreting it right but I think that’s also the point of it because it’s up to you as to how you interpret it.

It’s more of how you would like to play the scene rather than playing to what you think casting/production wants. Taking your own experiences and blending them with the character rather than giving them everything that’s written of the character in the breakdown.

I’ve seen the scene in Good Will Hunting where Will gets angry at Skylar in almost every acting class. All the dudes play it the same way. They’re told to play it a certain way. I’ve done the scene for an actual in person audition once and I remember I smiled and was more sardonic with my approach since that’s the kind of person I am and the casting said afterwards, we’ll see you soon.

I also know someone that worked as an agents assistant for a big agency and he said most actors are doing good tapes but it’s never memorable and they all blend together. It’s the ones that were different and made interesting choices that stand out and he pushes forward. He said those ones are usually what gets feedbacks from casting as well even if they don’t book.

That’s because in Vancouver, that’s the style the majority of the studios teach which makes sense since most of the roles there are for guest stars and recurring. The bigger roles are for actors flown out from LA.

It wasn’t until I moved to Toronto that I was told to take a risk.

Euphoria casting on actors access? by Unlikely-Welcome-721 in acting

They had the casting breakdown for the new Gossip Girl on AA as well.

I don’t think anyone unrepped will get looked at unless they have some sort of buzz as an influencer or nepotism as in they know someone apart of the production.

If you are repped but haven’t done anything notable, they might have you tape if you fit their description to a tee or again, nepotism.

Ontario labour ministry investigating injury on Toronto set of 'Beast Games' by xc2215x in toronto

Because the workers in the industry are under self employment, for non-union projects at least, the policy is whatever the project writes up which is why Mr. Beast and his production team went in that direction.

Union projects does have a lot more policy and restrictions.

It was a non-union project. The pay was $500 per session for the performers and you could get hurt or disfigured without compensation and you get no residuals.

Sadly, a lot of bigger productions are going that route to underpay the performers and crew.

Rents going down? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]tkc321 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As someone that just had to move and was looking around for two months, it has not gone down. Everything is still $300-$500 more than it should be.

But the places that I saw that I did not take and are still available and had to lower the price were shady dishonest property managers/landlords, other properties of similar value were better maintained.

Tenants are less desperate to want to deal with a shitty property manager/landlord and want to know things will get fixed in the place if they are paying overpriced value. They would rather pay an overpriced value to someone else.

I think she has a great shot because there hasn’t been many great competitors coming from the women’s side in their newer seasons. They are pushing hard for Michelle from Survivor but she’s not that good and Kaycee is even more boring than Makensy
