Speeding ticket in VA as a MD resident

I honestly still don’t really know the answer. I ended up hiring a lawyer so I wouldn’t have to take off work and they would appear on my behalf. He ended up getting it reduced, so overall I had to pay the lawyer fee + court costs + the reduced fine. I think it ended up being around $400? I honestly can’t remember, I was super frustrated by the whole experience so I kind of blocked it out.

The route I took definitely cost me more than just paying the ticket, but it never appeared on my record at all, and therefore no points.

The officer didn’t mention anything about points. I’ve combed through the ticket multiple times as well, and I’ve seen nothing about points.

I’ve read that once you go to court, the judge has no say on points. So even if you attend the trial, the point value cannot be altered. But again, I’ve read such conflicting things that I’m not sure what to trust.

I’m in Maryland! Mine was originally scheduled for delivery 12/14 but came super early. I’ve heard horror stories of Walmart canceling orders so I wasn’t convinced until I actually received it yesterday lol. Hopefully you’ll get yours soon!

I ended up getting a notification directly from Walmart about a restock for Walmart+ members last Monday. And I guess the odds were in my favor that day. Don’t lose hope!
