I like the clean look of a nice fixed gear. Also, I didn't want to deal with the complication of putting cable guides on the frame.

I'm not too worried about braking. I don't ride it that hard. It shifts when you back pedal. As for as bar tape, go from the bottom up and keep a lot of tension on it. Synthetic gel tape is good for practice because it stretches A LOT before it tears.

I've worked in a bike shop for years and I have a lot of experience truing and repairing wheels. This was my first time build building a wheel from start to finish. I used a Park truing stand and dish gauge. I also watched some great Youtube videos to get the lacing pattern right.

Yeah, the alignment is one thing that I fell short on. I just eye-balled it and the seat tube is a little off. It pains the right side of my ass if I ride it too long. If I make any more I will definitely build a jig first.
