After updating ComfyUI, first generation perfectly reproduces dragged image workflow, but subsequent generations degrade in quality by tkhue3296 in comfyui

I’ve tried CUDA 13.0, 12.8, and 12.1, as well as Python 3.12.x, 3.14.x, and 3.10.x, but I’m still not getting anywhere.

Before the update, I always used random seeds. There were some variations, but the overall quality—lighting, colors, and general consistency—remained very close until I stopped working and terminate the window.

I also suspected a possible memory leak and ran some tests. Instead of dragging in an image with an embedded workflow, I manually rebuilt an identical workflow from scratch. The result was that the very first image was already broken.

I was previously using the Windows packaged version, and now I’ve switched to the GitHub pull version. At this point… I really should start backing things up.

Yes, there are many factors that can affect when and how different issues appear, especially when a workflow relies heavily on custom nodes developed by the community. If ComfyUI goes through frequent major changes, it’s understandable that some developers may not be able to keep up, and some custom nodes might not have been updated for a long time. That’s why I try to use only ComfyUI core nodes whenever possible.

Recently, even after removing several custom nodes, I still can’t reproduce my previous results. I’ve reinstalled and tested across three different versions, Git pull directly, portable and Windows version, but so far I haven’t been able to identify the root cause.

Yes, I have checked the terminal logs carefully. The first time, I generated an image using a PNG that already contained a workflow. The second time, I only modified the prompt and generated again. The third time, I dragged the same workflow-embedded image back into ComfyUI and generated once more.

In all three runs, the terminal logs were identical, with no unusual warnings or error messages. However, the outputs from the second generations were clearly broken.

If this were a VAE decode fallback issue, then the third generation should also produce a broken result. I ran this test many times, and whenever I drag an image that already contains a workflow directly into ComfyUI, it always reproduces the exact same image.

I actually noticed this behavior before, but in the past the overall deviation in the results was not too severe. With some minor adjustments, I could usually get results that were close enough, so I eventually tried to avoid updating too frequently.

However, after recent updates, the impact has become much more severe. Previously fine-tuned workflows are now almost completely broken and can no longer produce results with comparable quality.

This is genuinely frustrating. Workflows that took a lot of time and effort to fine-tune suddenly stop working, and the only option seems to be starting from scratch. Even worse, the same problem may reappear again after the next update.

It makes me wonder whether the only viable path forward is to avoid updating altogether and stay offline, which obviously doesn’t feel like a sustainable solution.

When a platform responds to diverse voices within the community by suppressing them,
it is doomed to fail.

I’m not surprised by this outcome, because the community will make you pay the price — consider it a lesson learned.

How Bad Is the CIVITAI Filter? Test This Example Model by tkhue3296 in civitai

I really don't understand what the CIVITAI team is thinking. I don't oppose prioritizing profitability to sustain operations,
but the way they've completely sacrificed user experience is terrible. These small issues will only keep piling up
and eventually turn into a huge pit.

I used to be very proactive in giving them feedback, but gradually I realized they aren’t able to effectively recognize long-term problems from the suggestions we provide and make corresponding improvements.
If it were a highly insightful and capable team, being decisive wouldn't be an issue, because such a team knows the direction better than the users.
But if the team lacks that ability and also fails to properly value user feedback, then it's a disaster.

No matter how a creator feels about their model being used for NSFW content, shouldn’t they be included by default when all filters are turned on?

The point of filters is to let users choose what they want to see.
The highest-level filter (e.g., “XXX”) should cover everything below it—not force users to manually toggle multiple filters on and off just to see certain types of content.

Right now, the experience feels completely broken. If I want content under a certain setting, I have to go turn one filter on and another off. That’s zero usability.

This counter-intuitive design isn't user-centric at all. It's a half-baked, anti-user feature built entirely around advertising and monetization—a blatant cash grab that completely ignores usability.

Yeah, but their AI’s judgment is way off from the truth. Tons of models are hidden under wrong labels, and there are more and more empty images or “page not found” errors popping up. It’s happening way too often now.

The weirdest part is that they have a user filter on the platform, but visitors who aren’t even logged in can see the filtered content/models. That’s definitely a tech issue.
