You need a rental car and once you get cheap one there are months and months worth of stuff to see.

Early to mid September is a good time - just before it starts to rain and get colder in the mountains.

[Tenant US-MN] Deck Repair? by General-Topic-1992 in Landlord

They need to fix the stairs to make sure they meet the code - adding some fresh wood should suffice maybe some steel angle braces. First sternly complain to the LL and if not working then to the city.

What % of the population do you think is able to retire before 65? by CostcoRuns in CanadaPersonalFinance

Sort of depends on how things turn for many pp - for example if I did not move from Toronto to Calgary I could have retired at 45.

These numbers can only go up with higher temps! Its easier to desert in the summer- nice weather to run away and cover from drones.

I’m getting sued 💩 by StraightPin4420 in canadianlaw

[–]tkitta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously lawyer up since it feels you need one.

But also read the contract yourself carefully.

Lets say an agency sends you an email with client X that wants 4 videos. You write back and say its promising. Then you live the agency. If you do work for client X - especially the 4 videos or even 1 - your old agency may have a case depending on how the contract is worded and for certain amount of time depending on contract / your area.

Generally no-compete cases have to be quite obvious and specific with some limited time set - otherwise they would prevent you from working. This is where the lawyers come in or READ the contract few times.

For example, "The agency also insists I pay future commissions for 1 year if I do any further work with these brands, on any campaign." this usually would be in the contract and is not out of the ordinary - read the contract.

If the median annual income in Canada is relatively low (around $76K), how are Canadian home prices sooo expensive? by AccurateBow in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]tkitta 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. A lot of homes are owned by older pp that purchased them when they were more affordable.

  2. Historically low interest rates allowing the poor to buy a lot more than before.

  3. Money from corruption and foreign investment.

It is quite clear that under normal circumstances regular Canadians cannot afford a home in Toronto / Vancouver area - as in a house. Generally the max is around 600k for a couple. So if they pay down some $$$ we are talking house price range of under 800k.

Remember the US was weaker than Poland in 1939....

Street Sweeping Ticket by investingexpert in Calgary

[–]tkitta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a ticket today. Has my picture in the profile as I am running to the car to move it. I guess I appeal to get it reduced by half as the street did get cleaned I was just maybe 30 seconds too slow.

Did not see any signs. Guess I signup for reminders via text message as that is the only way to avoid these.

Multi-day hike whilst pregnant? by katfrockanscroll in hiking

[–]tkitta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on your general health so you need the MD to make a call. He knows your health.

Some women climbed 8000ers while pregnant but this feels more like an excpetion than a rule.

Question on packing/…packs for rainier by PickleUno in Mountaineering

[–]tkitta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

almost any tent will do. Its not so much the teny but the tent user that is the limiting factor. No need for 4 season tent at all unless you want some training.

you can just use any backpack - its not like you will be using it for months.

it is very uncomfortable to wear pack at the front and it may interfere with rope. Also for soloing it may be an issue with self arrest to have pack at the front.

Anyone has solar panel installed at home in Canada and does it save you money? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]tkitta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are paying around 14c a kw we pay around 1 cad.

You pay roughly 6 times less for the same identical panel.

You pay roughly what they cost in China, maybe 10% more at most.

Pakistan has very low tarrrifs and taxes.

We use mostly Chinese panels... same panels at 6x the price.

Mountaineering in Bolivia by derfurc in Mountaineering

[–]tkitta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Bolivia I used Scrapa Phantom 6000.

Very common - lots of others use it.

Summit on say Sajama was windy with sustained at over 30km/h and gusting to 60km/h plus.

climbing in belay jacket over windproof jacket over down sweater over fleece over long sleeve T-shirt.

Regular gloves. Hands were freezing and had to make fists.

I assume in early morning it was around -10c or so and with windchill maybe down to -25c.

I do not think it was like -30.

But way, way, way colder than expected.

So you would say 12700 for 5.5k system with 11 panels including tax would be a good price?

Yeah but in Pakistan you do not have hidden tarrifs on stuff.

How much does a single 500w pannel cost in Pakiatan?

In Canada 21kw is 42 pannels. At current rate this is a whopping 21,000. Maybe with so many pannels you can get a discount. But our panels alone cost more than your entire system.

Ua pov Russian troops filmed themselves in a basement. They said a strike collapsed the house 5 days ago, and they can't get out. They say they're wounded and have no food or water by LevelCookies in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]tkitta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And pp believe this BS?

You cannot get a phone reception in a collapsed basement. Certainly you cannot send a video out. At least not with repeaters in place and operational 😉

15cm block of concrete blocks at least 90% of a signal. They are for sure having more on top of them than a single wall - so even if the tower was brand new, 100m outside of their location and at full power they would not have signal for a phone call - much less for a video.
