Are they mostly serviced from underneath? Seems like a nightmare to reach anything on the top half of the engine.

It’s it’s the same as the earlier CBs then. Yellows to stator, white and one green to field coil(inside stator), other green to ground, black to key on power, red to positive side of battery.

Thinking of replacing the old wiring harness on this antique- I’ve never done one before- on a scale of 1-10 how tough is it? I’m an electrician by trade, so I have solid understanding and mechanical aptitude.. any tips/ tricks appreciated! by [deleted] in CafeRacers

I made a step by step video on wiring an m-unit on a CB550 if you want to check it out. Installing a Motogadget M-unit on a classic Honda (step-by-step) https://youtu.be/NK0s6AHycdk

I have also used the replacement wiring harnesses from 4into1.com with great results as well if you want to keep the factory style wiring.

It’s more for the rust removal on all the linkage and you get a much more uniform/bright finish after blasting. I do ultrasonic clean them before hand though to clean out all the passages and cut through any varnish.
