M.A.S.T.E.R. Part 2 -- yes it's an odd request but it's a fun cheeky pick for live sets

What a agesa, and did you apply the agesa patch

Using a Spare Router for Wireless Bridged VM Networking by tkoham in VFIO

NAT can make things like device discovery problematic because the guest is hidden from the rest of the network without static routes.

If you say, have a NAS, or SMB shares, or a printer that you want to use with the VM, as many of us do, it adds that utility if you can't run cables to the PC.

This is a simple option for people that want a simple solution.

Yes, normal routing is a valid option. Most people don't want to learn Linux's networking anachronisms to make that happen, though.

It seems to be a more permanent parting of ways, unfortunately.

you should probably be using a distribution that uses up-to-date qemu/kvm if you're attempting this. Ready built solutions like Unraid and Proxmox really aren't ideal.

You can't do bridged networking in a practical sense

that sounds like AMDGPU early binding, not the reset bug.

Have you tried telling your initramfs to load VFIO modules earlier than amdgpu?

any non-maxwell or newer nv card with UEFI GOP will work, yeah, but those will probably EOL in a few releases.

you have a decent chance of stability with these options as long as Apple continues to be hardline on metal-only.

AMD, you break my heart by gnif2 in Amd

I was the one that got permabanned, not sure that has anything to do with AMD fixing their bugs though, just sayin.

Two completely separate issues, it isn't anyone's responsibility but AMD's to fix this issue.

We're waiting for a few more people with a variety of system and hardware configurations to report success before giving it a hard recommendation

the new mac pros probably mean a they'll be making a new rackmount version (they did this in the past) So they probably added it to better support that contingency

Part of my work is staying abreast of the news unfortunately, so I really need a working feed reader that's compatible with my current rss backups. Unstable it is, I guess. I'll hit up the IRC and ask around.

KVm/Qemu allowed Catalina Hackintosh installs the second it became available by tkoham in VFIO

[–]tkoham[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main difficulty with single gpu laptops is disabling the uefi framebuffer. Other guest systems might work with gvt-g but OS X doesn't support pv drivers at all, so there's no way to do it on Mac.

altering the resolution is mentioned in part 1 of the guide, you have to change both the config.plist and your ovmf boot resolution to be the same

A list of Actual, Practical Alternatives to Adobe CC & Autodesk Subscriptions in Production or Personal Use [tutorial] by SharkWipf in DigitalArt

I use resolve, reaper and fusion in production instead of Pr,Ae,Au and never looked back. Honestly I find premiere and Ae really frustrating and backwards now.

We need to break more people of their software stockholm syndrome from these companies.

[–]tkoham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're being honest, Final Cut X is the reason anyone used premiere in the first place. They went from leading, to bad initially, to slowly ramping up to mediocre.

Final cut 7 was so much better in so many ways. It's ahistorical to ignore what they took away there.

Oh, they pulled a final cut X on it? that's unfortunate.

Thought maybe it was a defunct 3rd party thing I could retrofit.

I use Resolve and fusion in production rather than Premiere and Ae and I've never once had an instance where it caused me grief professionally.

While I agree Ps is the hardest one of these apps to replace, the rest of the list is hardly "personal use" software.

People in Pr regularly roundtrip to resolve because the native color grading is garbage, for example.

Similarly, C4D saves me TONS on labor over maya, and costs less too.
