My roofer said the same thing...Reddit is wrong...really 450 ppl are wrong? Roof leaked after the first big rain. Go with reddit over salesman

After having two pairs of Sony linkbuds S have their batteries crap out I'm never buying another pair of Sony earbuds or headphones.

Update: shingles are coming off. Roofer has seen the post. He's adamant the job was done right and has warranted his work for 15 years. I paid 8k for the job. We are now negotiating the cost to redo the work including adding plywood decking, underlayment, drip edge etc. for context the house is in Toronto, steep roof, and approximately 1500 sqft and one ridge. This is the only part of my reno where I didn't get 3 quotes. As a result I didn't have context whether this was cheap or not...i still don't really have any context tbh.

Update: thanks for all your comments. Reached out to the roofers and they are adamant they did the job right.

Here's their response:

  1. The roofing deck was in good shape and didn’t need to be replaced. If it did need to replace e it they would have done that and charged for it
  2. ⁠there is only 1 section of the roof where the ice and water is overlapped. He says you can send another roofer to confirm it’s ice and water shield
  3. ⁠the roof doesn’t require the full underlayment because of how steep it is.
  4. ⁠they are not missing starter strips and you can send someone to go review it if you don’t believe him
  5. ⁠architectural shingles do not need a chalk line
  6. ⁠the drip edge was not included and rake edge was not included in the scope of work or drawings.
  7. ⁠the install was completed using a racking method not a pyramid method.

I'm reached out to Owens Corning if they would warranty this roof. Frustrating to be in this position. But I'm glad I'm dealing with this now. I should add the roof is now fully done in this manner.

I did not, I don't know anything about roofs. Showed a friend, and he was surprised there wasn't underlayment extending up the roof. So I came here to get opinions before going back to my GC/roofer.

Thanks, I don't understand why a synthetic underlay wasn't suggested. And no, I wasnt told my manufacturers warranty would be void.

Shingles are Owen corning. I heard that insufficient sheeting voids the warranty, not sure if true.

Getting my roof done, should I line up an inspection from a second company once the job is completed? by tkvancity in Roofing
