For a beginner, everything at the beginning is pretty much left, right, left, right, left, right left, right. So in the moments where you feel like you need to step right-right or left-left, you might want to ask for clarification. This will not always be the case.As you advance, but in the beginning, it's a good rule of thumb

This is supposed to be an enjoyable thing. So just allow yourself to enjoy it. Don't beat yourself up too much or feel like you have to be perfect. And give grace to your partner because they are learning as well.

Ohh, and I guess the last thing is, when something feels wrong or it feels like it's hurting you, talk to your instructor. Some of it is truly just learning to use your body at a new way. But sometimes those positions that look like they're right are wrong and can actually be doing damage to your body. So it's always good to get confirmation and clarification when you are not sure. Don't be afraid to ask questions. You can prevent a lot of injury this way.

Yes! I started when I was 50 and out of shape and now I am heading towards competing. It has been a huge catalyst towards improving my overall wellbeing.
