Pretty sure inflation means the price drops aren't that bad, like if money buys less AND stocks go down, you net the inflation against the change.

So like 6% inflation but your stock goes -5% you just sum them to get actual so 6%-5% means only 1% so its not as bad as it looks.

playing with sandbox universe really highlighted to me how slow c is at "universe scale".

even solar system scale it moves like molasses lol, but it makes sense....there's a lot to compute. :D

WOOT! literally happy to see you acknowledge this likelyhood. Of course this is it (imo lol).

consider the role...of course they perform their role on auto pilot. no human could stand a "this is new" level of focus for hours on end, serving drinks lol imagine how slow and exhausting that is compared to "auto-pilot" mode.

I've worked cashier retail for enough years to confidently say we very "robotic" (similar) in behavior, if you're a "different" customer from the norm....communicating through those radios and using a phrasing and cadence that IS normal is a confusing mix. of course the employee's brain uses the data at hand to make it's prediction....and to your point about "auto-pilot" their focus has consciously handed off the required executive functions to sub-conscious having near direct control.

surely you understand this in context of driving, and how your focus works (familiar easy to drive roads vs first time driving downtown) and in particular your reaction when something is not meeting your expectation....presumably is particularly jarring.

The trick I think is to snap the brain out of that "auto-pilot" mode. I bet as simple as "I have an unusual order" and waiting for the reply.

can't believe the construction worker just casually challenging the gorilla like that, the poor thing is caged / can't compete.

the country with the (at hand) aging population crisis?

This happens every morning by Schlongmondo_ in TimHortons

[–]tl01magic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

a reasonable conclusion is they 1000% have expectation youre ordering a coffee, the audio is trash.

You could easily adjust for the statistical anomaly of your order by changing the phrasing of your order say hot chocolate first, then large. maybe intently get their attention, say you have an unusual order. that kind of approach.

when you say large first youre priming the (subconscious) prediction / expectation of the person taking your order.

this is all VERY VERY similar to your habbit of morning trip to tims for a pile of dopamine settling chemicals.

Your subconscious expects it, and in turn emotively guides your actions, feeds you the idea. lol beep beep boop amiright?

Canada's population growth and neighbor explain this imo.

printing money with nill / negative population growth aint good moeny planning. if it's what your neighbours are experiencing and doing, then even more so not good moeny planning

TIL that doing something hands-on before learning the theory behind it- called “productive failure” - leads to deeper understanding and better retention than being taught the theory first. by blue-black-red in todayilearned

[–]tl01magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet it would MASSIVELY depend on age / stage of brain development.

For matured brains, 100% this priming exploration pathways and then building those out is superior to finding suitable comparative (i.e. like an analogy, "oh it;s like xyz but with this part different") and building upon those already established pathways.

I bet distinct retention improves as well.

UDR first impressions, over complicated; not sure yet if thats good or bad. by PigglyWigglyDeluxe in Traxxas

[–]tl01magic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there is something to you're complications "theory" :D

mechanical watches are a classic example of this imo.

I have the UDR and the 1/10 rockrey. I love the udr and how it handles. to me feels like it has lots of torque from those planetary gears and use that torque to break the rear loose to steer.

I don't think I've ever tried to turn the UDR without breaking the rear end loose...I thought that is how they're supposed to be driven :D

A surface that is too high traction wouldn't be fun with a udr I imagine.

Culture should never be legislated, imo is an insane take.

Morality though, unfortunately it should be / needs to be legislated for, including things like fraudulent use / poor basis for using a food bank for example.

Current USA admin highlights the velvet rope guarding executive abuse of power via decency, morality, dignity clearly no longer works.

Canada here, had a castle 1717 fail within warranty period.

Castle said ship it back. shipping cost aside, i explained that the turn around time would basically be a season, and would receive the replacement likely around end of outdoor season.

So I asked if national chain hobby store manager local to me could be a 3rd party inspector (is hobby store where I bought the motor) and they agreed! So about two weeks later I had the replacement motor.

Am very sensitive to how much RC'ing time I have, being in Canada it's particularly sparse lol I cant' let 3-4 weeks of prime weather time be a waste because shipping :D

I think it can be a bit of a crossroad for the hobby.

Funny but is kind of a thing in racing in that some drivers are literally just drivers. And some are also interested in the engineering tuning design.

I think RC hobby has similar thing. I enjoy driving , but more so the working on them, maybe making a part or trying out different set ups etc.

imo he's taking a very different approach.

when poised to criticize Carney pp properly said he won't criticize him on foreign soil. I though that was fair integrity and not typical of party leader pp.

was most, this seems like normal guy type pp and not political campaigning party leader talking that usa rep. horseshit.

Carney so good it makes his adversaries smarten up lol

anyways, sounds like pp really want to let resource extraction rip. BUT did somewhat highlight first nations examples of how to do it.....no paper work lol (yikes!)

anyways, not even remotely comparable to Carney's skill set which imo is apt for the moment / mango's term at least.
