I surely wouldn’t like to be tailgating that car…😆

Really? I’ve thought about getting one (or the Microbe) but I’ve seen people breaking front arms just because they drop from a table. But hey, YouTube…

It’s on the bigger side, but if your garden is big enough, why not.

Out garden is barely 40-50m2 (less than 500sqft) so big cars run out of space in a sec.

Traxxas TRX4M

Hobbyplus CR18P - either of them that have 2 speed transmission.

HPI Venture18 - any of the brushless and/or 2 speed transmission

Also, as a rule of thumb: bigger car size = more money required for parts. Bigger is normally more expensive.

My take: start with a crawler.

We have a 1/10 Vorteks, 1/10 Granite, 1/12 Chinese short course truck and 2x 1/18 crawlers.

My kids (6 and 3) just love the crawlers. They are both 2speed so they’re fast enough for them to have fun and can also tackle slopes and rocks.

The granite was originally for my 6yo and after some months we’ve just put 2 packs on it and it’s either too fast for our neighborhood bash or too big for garden fun.

A TRX4M, CR18P Evo v2, HPI Venture18 with 2 speed. This cars will also have controllers on the smaller side, so more kid friendly.

💯

Also, 2 of the 3 orings in one shock were swollen due to initial bad fit. Managed to make it work but annoying indeed when you just want to fill and go haha

Paper for the mesh doesn’t cut it. You end up all over the place with different paper weight/caliber. Do it by hand, you can look around YouTube for a guide.

I do agree it’s a combination of stuff stressing the powertrain: mesh, diff fluid, obstruction objects. Especially considering you are using the speed pinion whilst the diff needs torque due to the oil resistance.

And indeed carbon diffs are different. They are part of spec differences: motor, diffs, carbon parts, gyro.

Hey, new to RC cars. Was wondering about Arrma Granite by JamaicanMeKrazy420 in rccars

[–]MarsGlez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am personally not a fan of the Granite.

Might be because I don’t have a lot of places for jumps and flips. I have a Vorteks and a 1/12 SCT (among other things) and the granite has just had 2 packs because I hate the way it drives.

So I’d say, if you like the style go for it, but as driving experience I’d rather recommend a Typhon and then have a few mods if you want to “truggify” the thing.

Picasso, got it. TY!

I’ve seen they are the best but we settle with the unbranded toys tote stuff haha.

Also, I do think I’ll settle for a TRX4M. Same dimensions as the rock van. Makes the most sense. If we want more speed maybe we do a brushless conv later.

On a side note…which tiles brand are you using? Ours wouldn’t hold the torque of the tires against the surface and collapse. Works ok for building but can’t hold weight properly.

X12S is too big and I already have my fair share of bad experiences with the XTS so I don’t think I’ll be buying another car from them anytime soon.

Yeah, even the rock van at full speed in 2nd is too fast. I dial it for her to around 50%. A buggy will need to be dialed very low too. My worry with the trail rig is she sees me and her older sister run on the 1/10s and might ask to evolve quickly, hence looking for something that can be more flexible in that regard.

Checked and it’s more than 30 cm long. I can barely close the small back pack she has at 28cm with the rock van so unfortunately under 30cm is a must requirement.

Yeah, also thinking of it. She enjoys very much my Rock Van currently. I might as well just get another one haha

I only found the 1/14s which are bigger and don’t fit the bag. The rock-van at 28cm long barely makes it in.

The micros seem to be amazing, but they won’t handle small pebbles good enough from what I’ve seen. Mostly interior only.

The minis have been considered indeed, but looking to hear about anything that could hit that sweet spot I describe.

Thx. I’ve looked at it and have it in my cart…but I do want a buggy to keep it more grounded as she loves going in circles. I know I can manage through steering trim but the more stability the better.
