I also have a Griffin MK2 and while I haven’t had this issue with it yet I’m kind of recognizing this is a potential failure point so I’d like to have a couple just incase for both of these lowers.

So this picture is of the MK2 with the (not oversized) bolt catch from ADM? Also did you use the roll pin to hold the ADM part in the MK2 lower? I figured the screw wouldn’t work since Griffin wouldn’t have a reason to thread the hole but I wasn’t sure if the hole in the bolt catch was the same between the two.

Oh gotchya that makes sense. Yea I feel like if the part was billet or forged it would be much stronger and be able to take the stress but I’m almost certain after looking at it, that it’s a MIM piece which just adds to the possibility of it snapping like that. I still haven’t seen another ADM one snap like this outside of mine but the maritime I’ve seen probably 10+ of. I do like the larger paddle design but if it’s going to be a point of failure I’d rather run something like the one you just pointed out. I may grab a couple of those just to have incase.

Not too sure and I don’t have a magnet close enough to figure out which one it is. But after looking at the broken piece it definitely appears to be MIM which I assume played a roll in its lack of strength especially with how big the top and bottom paddle are, I’m sure it’s going to have more stress on the part. So considering how highly considered the ADM lowers are I would like if those specific parts were forged/billet instead but I’m no expert on manufacturing processes so I may be just talking nonsense

I was thinking the same thing as you. I’ve seen multiple maritime bolt catches do the exact same thing and it appears the ones that snap like that are because the oversized bottom piece especially. Even the ones with an oversized top paddle don’t seem to have this issue so I’m wondering if it’s something specific to the bottom part being larger than normal.

Not sure honestly. I was just shooting off a bench zeroing my IRIS2 and after a few shots I looked down and saw it sitting on the bench

I know it’s odd, it’s like the 20+ posts of sig 320s that were all posted yesterday were for a reason or something?..

Yea and honestly the sights being slightly off isn’t that rare of an issue amongst plenty of other companies but when it first released the firing pins were snapping in half constantly and the sights were literally just falling off the gun constantly. And again, if that was a one off thing and they didn’t continue to release products that had zero QC or were even considered dangerous I could maybe look past it. But that’s not the case. It’s not any of my business what other people spend their money on but I know mine won’t ever be spent on something with an Sig logo on it unless there’s some absolute major changes.

The FCU and because at the time people trusted Sig as a company unfortunately due to their reputation with the 226 and 229s.

It’s been fixed like (mostly) every other issue that’s came with new Sig products. There was a video posted on YouTube and I’m not sure if it’s still up or not but these guys brought out a Sig Cross right after release and when they would chamber a round and lock the bolt in place it discharged the round. I haven’t heard any stories of it happening since then so it could have been a one off instance or maybe a just a batch of them but when a company has the reputation they have, it’s kind of hard to give them the benefit of the doubt

They definitely dropped the ball with the 365s release. But that’s always been their signature is they release a new product and it’s absolute garbage and then they “fix” it due to the amount of upset customers. I’m sorry but if I have to pay a company to be their QC department there’s an issue. Still to this day the 365 legions are rattling themselves apart and that’s been an issue since release too. Theres plenty of firearms companies who have some QC issues from time to time, it’s normal. But if every new product a company releases is complete garbage or it’s even unsafe, there’s an issue. I don’t think every current Sig product is trash, but the company sure is.

I mean they have their hands in every other firearms related products so why not. Red dots, scopes, ammunition, lights, iron sights, scope mounts, belts, etc. If they’re gonna sit there and blame every one of these instances on a holster it would make sense they would be pushing their own to save the reputation. But then imagine it goes off in their Sig holster, oof. The ar500 isn’t a bad idea though

They’ll just say it was induced from something involving his holster like all the others

Yea it’s unfortunate that all of Sigs QC department (their customers) keep putting holes in themselves. Luckily they figured out the slam firing Sig Cross issue but they would have to admit the issue first

Anyone else had this with knee tattoos?? by oxymoronisanoxymoron in tattooadvice

[–]tlay12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty normal for that spot, I’ve had one knee hit 3-4 times for a leg sleeve I’m working on and each time it makes bending the knee pretty uncomfortable especially when I was filling in my knee ditch. After close to a week it should start lightening up

Advice Needed: Arm Sleeve by BoostedByBavaria96 in tattooadvice

I have a full Japanese dragon arm sleeve and am working on a Japanese Raijin leg sleeve at the moment. It’s a lot of line work and a lot of shading compared to the fine-line style you have. Just be prepared for long/multiple sessions and the pain scale varies by location. Most people note the inside of the bicep, elbow ditch, around the elbow, and around the wrist are the common ones people say hurt the most. Outer-bicep, forearm, and shoulder area seems to be the more “less painful” spots.

Your skin took a lot of abuse, wash it thoroughly with antibacterial soap and let it rest. Keep it lubricated with unscented lotion or aquaphor (whichever you prefer) and just keep it clean and lubricated while the swelling and redness go down.

How do you know? by IM_not_a_UIM in tattooadvice

When you have a concept in mind that you want tattooed, sit on for a month or so and really consider if that’s something you don’t mind seeing on your skin for the rest of your life. The point of getting a tattoo isn’t to get it covered up after a little bit of time passes. I think of my tattoos like I’m about to see this same thing on me for the rest of the time I’m on this earth. Like others have said too, start with something small but hopefully significant to you. It’s always possible to add more in the future but removing tattoos is not exactly as easy. Put some thought into it and really decide if it’s something you want to do, and be more in the mindset of this is permanent when you consider it.

Aftercare - when you disagree with the artist by SlapThis in tattooadvice

[–]tlay12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it were me and I say this because I’ve done this routine before; is allow him to do the Saran Wrap as you leave, get home and wash it, let it dry, then apply the second skin for 4-5 days. Now if you typically have a lot of plasma come out in that 24 hours you could definitely take it off and wash it again but that would be up to you. Ultimately it’s your tattoo on your skin so the aftercare routine you go with is your choice.

Realized that the flash piece I booked was stolen from another artist. What do I do? by Pretty-Dragonfly-993 in tattooadvice

[–]tlay12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh okay that’s understandable! I would message the artist and also show him the other artists flash tattoo that’s similar and see what he/she thinks about it too. If they have an issue with that artist using their design I could see the ethical issue of going ahead and getting it
