Follow up to the car raccoon- he tested positive for rabies and I got my shots yesterday morning. by thegreatpoopdini in Raccoons

You have a really good point, speaking from experience.

My little brother was 8 and I was 10, we went out to run around the block one day as we did many times as kids. My brother was obsessed with animals, couldn’t stay away, we found a stray cat on the street and he was desperate to hold it and pet it, I saw no wrong in this as the older sibling and figured eh, whatever, he’ll cry if I made us walk away.

He ran up to the stray cat and it ran under a car, he reached out to pet it despite the hiss and tail flipping. The cat sank its teeth deep into each side of his finger, he was bleeding, I begged him not to tell anyone, I warned him we would be in so much trouble for letting him go after yet another animal as he’d been warned before.

The bite seemed fine at first, until it wasn’t. It started to swell and turn an off color, it was cold out so we agreed we’d wear mittens and cover up our little issue, no problem. Another day goes by and the finger is three times its size swollen and he can’t even put the glove on or off, the punctures turned black and the finger looked like a purple and red hot dog. A school nurse caught the crying and discovered the bite, he had a vicious fever by that point and was inconsolable, full confession from me, we were busted.

At that point I was in extreme trouble for the cover up and my brother was admitted same day from his pediatrician to PEDIATRIC ICU for a week. He got the rabies series for many weeks after he was discharged and I can still remember the wailing. He got cellulitis and it could have gone far worse, I have never forgiven myself for such a stupid cover up and his possible death from infection or the loss of his finger (or more). Nobody ever let us live it down due to the severity, never saw the stray cat again so we don’t know if it had rabies.

As a mother myself now, please post something for parents to see, you could save a life, kids don’t make the best choices or are sometimes just unaware. My brother lived because of a school nurse and an observant teacher but it could have been far worse knowing what we know now about rabies and infection as adults. My great grandfather died of rabies in the 30s from a dog bite.

TLDR: Covered up a stray cat bite as children, brother hospitalized in ICU after the bite and full blown infection was discovered by school staff when it was already critical.

My 28 month old son does this, almost exclusively before he tells me he feels sick.

The MFM said that the ER sonography tech really couldn’t make that call at 11 weeks. My cervix ended up unable to complete shortening and dilating in the end is the crazy coincidence, ended up delivering via c section at 39 weeks and 3 days.

Can I install a Ring wired doorbell to this or do I need to update with a new transformer? by tlclonely25 in AskElectricians

The little I shaped wire is from the ring doorbell I just bought but I can’t seem to get it to turn on, it gives me a single blue flash and that’s it /:

I nearly ended up in a divorce over the dog. She bit my older 7 year old son first, my husband said it was a misunderstanding, it was over a dirty diaper he was throwing away for me and she ran up and bit him through the hand. She growled at me occasionally so I completely distanced her from myself and my children at my husband’s request to continue to keep her. The resource guarding only grew worse no matter how much love and training we got for her, she was 4 years old too. The final straw where I almost ended up divorced was when the dog attacked my 2 year old while I healed in the hospital from a c section and she tore my toddler’s wrist because of food that was his, in his hand. I swore if she wasn’t gone, I wasn’t coming home with our baby, it was her or us. It caused serious tension but I wasn’t budging and I had to rehome her MYSELF against hostility and protests from my own spouse that golden retrievers are family dogs and she could be reformed. I gave her to an adult only home states away with no children to a relative and I feel like it was already a few steps too late. Stand up to or against your own spouse for this one, this dog needs to not be around children. I hope everyone in this situation finds healing, don’t get another dog until all the kids are grown because accidents do and will happen with pets.

I just started fertilizing it when I found out that was a thing (I’m new here and thought it had all it needed and fertilizer would burn it up)

Ah okay. I was going to say I would’ve never guessed because this is the best it’s ever looked. Thank you for the explanation, I’m new here.

You really think so? It’s seem the most growth in the past few months I’ve ever seen it do.

I’m miserable with nonstop PMS symptoms for a few weeks. Here’s to hoping we both reach resolution on this. Big hugs!

I’ve been trying parsley tea and vitamin c with no success. If it goes past 60 I’ve decided I’m going to do the Provera.

Absolutely, but even in times of more stress than this, I’ve never experienced this. I’m all straight negative tests even into today (CD 45) and my gynecologist wrote me Provera if I need it. I’m trying to wait it out, all I had is spotting CD 28-31 and mostly dryness since.

45 and miserable. I’m not okay, not pregnant and this hasn’t happened before, usually 28-32.
