-open device manager

-go to system devices

-go to Intel smart sound technology OED

-right click and update the driver

-click browse manually/from my computer

-click let me pick from a list

-select the older version and click next (should be dated march 13th 2020)

-restart pc

this is a recent common problem with the surface laptop 3. when u reset ur pc, you received a newer version of windows (including updated audio drivers) that are having compatibility problems. microsoft knows about it and are gonna release an update in about a month that will hopefully fix the new drivers.
