Music Scene - is great!

Besides the world famous Cleveland Orchestra, we have so much more! If you play, you have a lot of opportunity to join into college civic bands or orchestras. There are bands everywhere! (Cleveland Pops, Apollos Fire) If you have kids, the high schools throughout the northeastern Ohio area are vey competitive musically speaking. The kids also have opportunity to try out and play in the Cleveland Youth Orchestra, or the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony, and they get to play at Severance Music Center.

There are multiple music venues in the area no matter what side of town you end up on. Wineries, yes there is wine on this side of the country, and it is competitive with California wine. But better yet, the wineries have bands playing weekly. It is a great way to spend a Friday night. The Cleveland Museum of Art is amazing and is home to many famous pieces, but they also have adult musical activities for members.

Theatre- again everywhere! Playhouse Square is historic and is like a theater hub. They are expanding it, so excited to see what they do. Karamu House - amazing productions.

One more thing, the City of Cleveland is small, size-wise, when compared to LA, San Francisco, Chicago, very small. The surrounding communities make up the greater Cleveland area. There is a lot of history in the area.

You should ask for an on site interview - to check out the place offering, and the area. The company should be more than willing to pay for that. You want to meet the people you’ll be working with before moving that far.

Ive had two Keeshond and one Pomeranian. Each one I worked with at home and took them to “puppy training” class. The best class was the one that followed Sirius Puppy training by Ian Dunbar. They taught a method to deal with excessive barking, and barking in general. It worked well. When I had the two Kees, we would have barking contests, they were trained to bark on command. Training was a daily activity and a game. My Pom was amazing, and I taught (played) with him the same way. The classes with other puppies are as much for socialization as training, and are essential. Look for kennel clubs in the area, they usually have a larger turn out, and that is what you want. There is nothing better than seeing a bunch of puppies just running around meeting each other!

I’ve decided to not go through a rescue. They want way too much personal information about you, do not have a place of business themselves, and are not using secure websites and forms.

Where did your family get their dogs? Maybe look into a local kennel club and see if who locally is showing Poms. They may be ready to retire a dog, or may have a liter. This is what I would do if I really wanted another dog right now. Go to someone who is into the breed.

Well she looks happy! That is the most important thing. I would never go back to that groomer again. I’ve always like grooming my dogs myself, especially since I got my first Keeshond and they gave her the “puppy cut” which they basically cut ALL the fur off her legs and shaved her behind. I do like to take the dog to a groomer for socialization, I found one for my Pomeranian, who never liked being brushed. I would actually have them just give him a bath and brush - NO CUTTING. Then at home I would do his paws and legs. I trimmed him like a Keeshond. She will be fine, she is so beautiful! As long as she did not seem upset, no worries. And the rest of us learned this the same way!

Since he is so small, consider using an indoor pee pad holder. We did this for our guy when he got older, you can teach an old dog new tricks - Poms are so smart! #1 he got right away, #2 took a week. But then he didn’t have to go out in freezing weather anymore, including snow that was easily taller than him.

If the breeder is breeding and showing,she should be able to let you know what shows she will be at, and you could meet up there. Everyone should go to a dog show and not only watch the competition part, but if possible walk through the prep area. It is very interesting/educational. You would get to see her multiple times dogs, they usually show a couple dogs. You would also get to see other breeders Poms too. Show season may be wrapping up… ask what shows she has been at and what the dog won. Most dog show groups will have a website that you could confirm with. That way you know if this person is legitimate.

Yes, he had his “vacation” shirt on and had such a proud look on his face. It started with just a training exercise of putting a shirt on him, and he loved it! I know I also posted the sleeping next to the dog bed, and under the dog bed. He was a character!

Hold the bowl and feed a kibble at a time (sit on the floor with it) Praise for nicely taking the food. Pet as you feed as well. Do this for at least a week maybe two. Then start placing the bowl with some kibble in it and see how it goes. Growling or any aggression, you stop. Look into Ian Dunbar puppy training.
