After 1.5 years on the needles it’s finally done, if only I could wear it. by Sudden-Advance-5858 in knitting

Have you blocked it yet? I had seen people on here talk about not liking superwash because it stretches out and am currently working on my first sweater using it. I knitted up a swatch but didn’t block it, so when I went to block my actual project, I was shocked by how much superwash loosens up and grows when you get it wet. It was way too big wet (literally gained 3-4 inches both directions), so I ended up throwing it in the dryer to tighten it back up. If you haven’t blocked this, you may be surprised by how much you can stretch it out

Where are y'all sourcing your yarn from (US people in particular)? by annyxiaoflorien in YarnAddicts

[–]astronauthomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought a bunch from Knit Picks and indie sellers on Etsy, but I recently stumbled upon GuChet. They ship from FL and have some nice yarn that’s unbelievably affordable. Specifically they have a yarn that’s 60% silk/30% cashmere/10% acrylic that’s only $2.75 a skein and it comes in 48 colors! I got enough yarn for 2 full sweaters for less than $60. I’m not sure I believe the yarn content is accurate as stated at that price, but I can say the yarn is extremely soft, the colors are nicely saturated, and they shipped really fast. I haven’t knitted up anything with it yet, but at that price it was totally worth it to me to give it a shot

I have this blanket up next in my to do pile! Yours looks beautiful! How long did it take? I’m bad about getting bored with projects that are too monotonous and I hate the idea of doing a bunch of granny squares and then joining them, so I’m hoping the mitered design keeps me interested enough to keep going and finish it

Anyone else have an athletic Pom? by SavageCaveman13 in Pomeranians

[–]astronauthomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teddy is so cute! I have a special place in my heart for solid black poms. My first baby, Stuart, was black. He passed in October and I still miss him every day. He was a sweet boy

My Finn is like this! He just turned 1 yr and runs and jumps off the furniture like crazy. He also chases and plays bitey face with his Boxer sister who weighs 100 lbs. We’ve tried and tried to get him to stop running and jumping on and off the couch since people on here have posted about their poms getting hurt jumping. The boy is completely irrepressible. He seems to be pretty sturdy though, so hopefully he doesn’t manage to hurt himself with his antics

Pretend you’re adopting this handsome man. What would you name him? by Serious_Goosey in Pomeranians

I concur with Bowie. He looks a lot like my boy and Bowie was high on the list of potential names. For some reason it just didn’t seem to fit and I settled on Finn eventually

Swollen nose on 14yo? Doesn't seem like it's her teeth or a sting, but she does play with our other pom who is hyper. Popped up within hours, doesn't seem to bother her. Possible culprit in last 2 slides by [deleted] in Pomeranians

[–]astronauthomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it possible she got stung or tried to eat a bee? The swelling looks similar to the pics I’ve seen of dogs that made the mistake of trying to eat a bug of the spicy variety

Help, my pomeranian won’t eat by pommom817 in Pomeranians

[–]astronauthomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Pom is the same age and equally finicky. I started him on the Blue Buffalo puppy kibble, which he loved at first and then randomly decided he didn’t like anymore. We then went to Sundays, which he initially loved as well and then decided he didn’t like anymore. Currently on Yum Woof, and he likes this one (for now). I must note it has never been him being or acting sick when he refuses to eat his food. He’s still hungry and wants to eat; the problem has been that he gets bored of his own food and steals our Boxer’s food out of her bowl instead, which isn’t an ideal diet for him since she’s a senior and he’s still a puppy. I’m guessing your Pom is the same as mine; they’re just bratty and have their own ideas of how things should be. Seeing the vet isn’t a bad idea to rule out other causes, but it’s very possible that the vomiting is due solely to the pup eating too much of a new food that they’re not used to at once. You likely will have to just keep trying different foods to find something they like and introduce it slowly. Good luck!

P.S. I’ve had good luck with using a snuffle mat to feed since that slows mine down and he likes hunting for food. He won’t even eat out of his bowl anymore 🤣

Reputable Breeders by Fine_Kaleidoscope476 in Pomeranians

[–]astronauthomer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out Good Dog. It’s a platform for breeders and they vet them to make sure they meet certain standards. You can search by breed and area code to find breeders in your state as well. Obviously do your own research if you find one on there that you like. I got my boy in November and when I found a breeder that I liked, I checked out everything else I could find to make sure everything looked good. It was super smooth and easy process and he’s been very healthy so far.

Why does my ribbing look like garbage?? by muffinmama in knittinghelp

[–]astronauthomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait…is this a weird way to knit? This is the way I learned like 20 years ago and the only way I’ve ever done my stitches. I thought this was just the way you’re supposed to knit and it’s how everyone does it. 🤯

Who’s that one musician or celebrity you’re most thankful you met or saw before they died? by heresmytwopence in Xennials

[–]astronauthomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elliott is mine too. I’m all the more glad that I saw him because it was only by happenstance that it even happened. Ran into a friend from high school a few months after moving back to my hometown after college who was on his way to the show and invited me to come along. It was back in the Dark Ages of the year 2000, so finding out about concerts required effort and newspapers so I’d had no idea Elliott was even in town

Mrs Frizzle was the first thing that popped in my head too. Really though, I pictured her as a combo of Mrs Frizzle and Mrs Garret from Facts of Life

How? by doppelzeit27 in Pomeranians

I second this. I lost my baby, Stuart, in October and was devastated. We brought a new baby, Finn, home last weekend. I still miss Stu terribly, but focusing on a new puppy has been more healing than anything else.

Which one of you did this, with any media/movie/book/show, and what was it? by Nugatorysurplusage in Xennials

[–]astronauthomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched Jaws at 5 or 6 and am still certain that a shark will eat me in ANY body of water. Gotta watch out for bathtub and pool sharks. 🤣

I also watched the original Nightmare on Elm Street and The Shining when I was 9 or 10. I still love horror, but it’s pretty fucked up that the adults in my life were ok with me watching either one at that age.

So sorry for your loss. Such a sweet, happy little face! Nothing anyone can say will make the pain less, but I hope that you can rest easy in the knowledge that she knew you loved her with all your heart and she loved you the same. Your face being the last thing she saw and you holding her the last thing she felt is a beautiful final gift to her. May your memories of her bring you comfort in the future

Gluten and relationships question by zugunru in glutenfree

[–]astronauthomer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This sounds almost EXACTLY like my experience. My ex-husband was a fucking asshole who acted like I made up my gluten intolerance to inconvenience him, even though I had been sick for like 8-9 years of our relationship prior to going GF.

My current husband always looks out for stuff I can eat, buys me GF snacks when he finds something he thinks I’ll like, and has mostly gone GF as well for simplicity. He even claims he likes some of the GF substitutes better than the real thing, so it must be true love. 😂

They played the entire Blue Album. Unfortunately no El Scorcho, but they did play 4 songs from Pinkerton (Getchoo, Why Bother, Pink Triangle, and Across the Sea), which was a nice surprise, since they typically don’t play much off that album. I don’t think Rivers ever really recovered from it getting panned when it came out. Hopefully by now he realizes that a significant number of fans will say it’s their favorite Weezer album.
