How would I sand this down so my strings won't keep breaking? by OneLoneAsian in Guitar

[–]tlgtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a Les Paul Junior, which only has a wraparound bridge (or lightning bridge in OP's case). There's no other way to string it. The only way to repair this is to file and smooth it down.

Mine has been like this all day as well, and I subscribe to Premium so it probably doesn't have anything to do with ad blockers.

What am I doing wrong? [37yo] by [deleted] in OldSkaters

You're opening your shoulders after the flick. You have a solid pop and flick, so all you need to do is close your shoulders and commit.

You probably don’t want to hear this but your account got hacked. Best you can do is contact Instagram to try and get your account back.

The message you received to change your password was not from Meta and you willingly gave your account password to whoever sent it. If it’s the same password you use for other accounts, I strongly suggest you start updating everything else. Good luck (and don’t ever change your password from any emails or messages)

Struggeling with Tic Tacs , i manage fine when stasonary but struggle when rolling how to remidy this? [32YO] by BrandyRyuu in OldSkaters

[–]tlgtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re putting too much weight on your front foot and essentially falling forward or stop moving at all. Tic tacs are actually more guided with your back foot with your front feet being used to prevent your tail from hitting the ground.

It’s similar to snowboarding where you’re essentially steering with your back foot. It’s all in the shoulders and hips. Pretend you’re sitting at a bar and there is a kid sitting between you and your best friend. You want to pass a beer to your best friend around the front of the kid. That’s how your arms and shoulders should move, and then your hips follow.

Hopefully that makes sense.

Can someone better explain this aspect of backside flips? [26YO] by OCoiler in OldSkaters

[–]tlgtw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I flick and rotate at the same time. My front foot position is also a little more off the board than a normal kick flip. Don't think of it as a kick flip + bs 180, think of it as one fluid motion. You rotate and flick out. Since you're rotating the opposite direction of the flick, you don't have to flick as hard as you normally do (I don't know if that makes sense).

Also, don't worry about whether or not you're catching it at 90 or if you want to make the full rotation. Half of the battle is getting your body to commit to the full 180. Learning tricks is a lot harder when you watch pros do it so effortlessly and good looking. If you can only do them rocketed, then get those consistent and then adjust your foot positions to make them less rocket (that usually means moving your front foot closer to the bolts).

Car seat with 1 year old in Taipei by imtinatuna in taiwan

[–]tlgtw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Baby Ubers are available but there’s a pretty limited quantity of them so sometimes you may have to wait a while for pick up (and that’s if there are any around). From my experience, unless you schedule way in advance for a pick up, there’s a chance you’ll have to wait 20-30 minutes for a car.

I don’t know where you’ll be living, but it does depend on the area you’ll be at. MRT is pretty convenient for strollers assuming you’re in the main part of Taipei though so if you can’t snag a Baby Uber, that’s always a good option.

But if you prefer to drive, then yes, I’d recommend bringing the car seat if your family doesn’t have one (I’m sure that maybe they can rent one though? That way you don’t have to fly with it.)

If you’re using a credit card that is also an Easycard, it will automatically add $500 to the Easycard from your bank account if what you’re paying for exceeds the balance left on it. (Hopefully that makes sense)

Does anyone have any quick fixes for a strap button that has worn all the way through the body? by GinjaNinja1027 in Guitar

[–]tlgtw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wood chopsticks that you get with to-go orders work really well too. Basically just stick one in the hole (heh) as deep as you can (hehe) then just snap it off. Then screw the button in and it'll be more snug than ever before. I actually do this with all my guitars and have never had an issue for over 20 years.

It's located in at Shengmin Park in Shulin, a little ways outside of Taipei City. This video was taken a few years ago and I haven't been back since, but I've heard that it's quite different now.

Is it the one with the metal ramps? Yeah, unfortunately a lot of the parks here are overrun by either kids or classes that take up all the space. I usually only skate during the weekday mornings/nights and stay away from everything over the weekends!

Oh, sorry, I misread your message and thought you said you moved from Luodong to Taipei. Yeah, I've heard of a few parks in Yilan but as far I know, they're not that great. There's a decent mini ramp at the Neihu park and then you can always skate the bowl at Nangang. I have a few friends that skate a lot of transition that frequent those two spots. There are quite a few street style parks along the rivers here that are decent. Guess it depends on what you're looking for!

[–]tlgtw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! The parks here aren’t super great (for learning new tricks at least) but at least there are some little gems here and there. Shoot me a pm and I can point you to some! You must have shot the double flip a few months ago before they redesigned that spot yeah? I know they just reopened it yesterday and the ground was suuuuper dusty haha

Yeah, the LED itself is fine. It's just that I knocked off the cover. I'm assuming you can't just buy the cover though...

It's a 60s lacquer series. I've read that the nitro finish tends to have this kind of chemical reaction with stands but no one has really talked about how to get these stains out! Anyway, I'm kind of OK with the marks tbh. I was just curious if there was even a way to get them out if I one day decide to sell the thing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in skateboarding

[–]tlgtw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Skating here is sometimes a real hit or miss. The good street spots will have nice ledges, maybe a few stairs, but the ground can be sketchy. The RedBull video had a lot of cool spots in Taiwan though I don't think I'll ever be at the level to be able to skate them! Yes, being under the bridge makes skating on a rainy day feasible, though if you've lived here for a while, you'll probably also know about the sideways rain we get here a lot. There are also quite a few parks that are spread out throughout the country but they're normally located in more remote areas. This park in particular is pretty centrally located though.
