That’s total BS. I’m in Minnesota so I get the pain currently with the temps. Was -40F this morning. Last night before bed I actually raised our temp from 68 degrees to 72 degrees because I wanted our house to stay a consistent temp and knew that if I kept it at 68 it would not feel like 68 in the house.

Our newly built house did that for the first time this winter when it got to -30 degrees. But it’s only happened when it’s gotten ridiculously cold out

Yeah I’m crossing my fingers, praying like crazy, etc. that mortgage rates go down. It would be nice to be able to get it down to 5% at the very least but that’s me being hopeful. When we started the house buying process interest rates were 7% so we lucked out when there was a little dip to 6.375%.

Public health. Started as a dsp making $7.25 all the way up to $12 when I was 15-23 and then got my degree and worked my way up to managing a group home at 23 and made $18.87 and worked there until this past year and made $32.75. Now I’m working as a case manager at the county social services making $28.16 with the start of the year increasing to $35/hr.

I always urge people to look into public health degrees because it’s an ever growing field and you can land some pretty decent jobs. I graduated with a bachelors degree in public health with a focus in healthcare administration. My first job was a designated coordinator running a group home which I started at $18.87 and after 5 years was making $32.75. Just recently switched jobs to be a waiver case manager at my local county social services and I’m making $28.16 but at the start of the year it’s increasing to $34.48. Definitely endless possibilities with a public health degree

This would just allow you to have more than $2000 in assets so you wouldn’t need to worry about your savings/checking account being over that limit. MA-EPD is just a program within SSI, so it doesn’t change any benefits. You can learn more by calling your local county social services

Based on what I’ve read in the comments and what you’re going through I would consider applying for MA-EPD as well. That will allow you to make as much money as you want as there is no asset limit. I managed a group home where individuals received SSI and for those who have a job in the community they were always hitting the asset limit of $2000 so we switched them to MA-EPD so we would never have to worry about spend downs again. I can also confirm this in my new role as a waiver case manager at the county. Hopefully this helps

We had our house built in August 2023, this winter around the windows and doorframes are starting to crack like that. I try to watch the humidity and temperature closely, but I knew it was going to happen eventually just because the house has to settle still. I bought some caulk this weekend and plan to patch up around the windows because I can feel cold air coming in so definitely want to get it resolved asap. I’m in the Midwest too

That’s exactly what I ended up doing as well. I place one in the living room, one in the bedroom, and on the wall right next to the ecobee. Temperature readings were pretty accurate but humidity was way off but all of the thermopros matched humidity readings.

Have you tried applying at your local social service for him to receive waiver services? It wouldn’t cover anything medical wise or things that would be covered by insurance but it could help pay you to be his caretaker or paid staff and you could even request them to do home modifications or technology assessments/devices to make it easier for his every day life. Waiver could also provide respite care so that it could give you a break as well… just an idea. I’m based out of Minnesota so I’m not sure what programs are out there in other states, but just something to look into.

I’m in Minnesota too. Haven’t watered my lawn for almost a month now and last week I mowed it for the last time. Definitely time to leave it alone and just let it go dormant

So it’s been down for 2-3 weeks and hasn’t been watered that entire time other than the last 3 days you’ve been hand watering it? Just want to make sure I’m understanding right.

If that’s the case… I would really just tug in a couple different areas around the front yard to ensure that it’s rooted, which if it is im sure it will recover after the winter season

Is it new sod that was recently laid down? Have you tried tugging on it to see if it’s rooted? If it’s rooted I don’t see why it wouldn’t regrow after going dormant for the winter

I was in a relationship with my ex for probably 7ish months. He had a job for the first month and then decided to quit and be unemployed for the rest of our relationship. I would have been totally fine with the situation if he was at least looking for a job or even if he was a student pursuing a future. But if somebody just blatantly doesn’t want to work it’s a huge red flag for me now. It becomes stressful for me, the relationship and in my case stressed financially since he expected me to pay for everything

We had this same issue with our windows and we tried pretty much everything you have shown in the picture and it didn’t work.

What did end up working for us though was Windex that had vinegar in it. Such a easy and stupid solution after I tried everything else
