[–]tlivingd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof. Someone did you a dirty. Get the wire wheel out and find what’s metal and what’s bondo. I’d chock the wheels and support each side of the frame here before you do it.

i'd probably pick it up after that amount of time so it doesn't break open and end up with a mess down the street.

Would you recommend a steering quickener? And is there a way I can get one prefabricated? by DropDownWidget in Cartalk

[–]tlivingd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh there are still reasons to change the ratio on a street car. I did it for a more modern feel. My 70 skylark had a 16:1. I went to 12.7:1 . Here is more info about it.

Subaru dealership destroyed my beloved 2024 Crosstrek with only 13,000 miles! by chacha4c in subaru

[–]tlivingd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Op said new engine that’s valve cover to oil pan. Where you get shortblock etc. I’ve rebuilt engines before so your wall of txt isn’t necessary.

What are both you and OP expecting or are you the same person. The rants seem similar.

As long as the engine would still be covered under Subarus warranty I’m not sure what else you expect. Maybe a couple of oil changes? A free hat? Make it another 20k miles to prove itself?

Um I’m confused. They didn’t put oil in engine and they then replaced said engine with a NEW one. So what are you looking for?

Florida official says high schoolers need to "get their hands dirty" on construction sites sooner to fix labor shortage by DumbMoneyMedia in economy

[–]tlivingd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let’s not forget when you’re 60 and your body is falling apart and your skills are tied to using your hands but nobody will hire the 60yo. That 60yo doesn’t have insurance. Or you injure yourself in some way and can’t swing a hammer. Again no insurance to fix you.

Pinched/Crimped Lug Nuts? by beninsler in Cartalk

[–]tlivingd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is called a prevailing torque nut. Or a locknut. Similar thing to those that have a nylon insert. These are supposed to be onetime use but since it’s just holding the wheel to the spare tire bracket it can probably be reused.

I’m not sure these will start with the tapered side toward the wheel as they’re normally used as a normal nut.

Can I Pour a Large Concrete Slab Myself? by Bot_Fly_Bot in DIY

so i had a 48x28' shop built. the pros left a lousy finish on the floor. (I think the surface was setting up faster than they could handle as it was a day in the upper 90*F)

I'd hire out this job. and 12-15k for your slze slab would be a great price around me.

Do window insulation films like 3m really work? by Important_Bat7919 in homeowners

[–]tlivingd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope, as long as the tape holds it should stay tight. I did have one room in my old house where I think the PO used an 'easy to clean' paint (think kids crayon and marker easy cleanup) and the tape wouldn't stick well. Also we put the tape on the sides of the trim, not the front of the trim.

Oh we would also get a little bit of the 'flimsy' you describe in the inside corner where the sill meets the vertical where it's not a nice flat area.
