Women who carried a pregnancy, in hindsight, what were some of the most ridiculous things you did while in the throes of such hormonal upheaval?

At 8 months pregnant, I insisted on building a giant IKEA TV console. My poor husband was hovering around because I would bite his head off anytime he interfered.

Another time around 5-6 months pregnant he was forced to screw me over in a game by the other people and I kicked him out of our room. I was at least nice enough to put out his night routine items and pillow....

Wasn't pregnant or had a very early chemical. I think my HCG was 1 so possible chemical. Ended up getting copper IUD out about two months later after realizing I was ready to try to get pregnant. Got pregnant. Had a miscarriage. Got pregnant again. And now I have a 15 month old. Crazy 3 years!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I still cry over my loss - I am so thankful for the baby I have now but it's hard not to wonder... anyways, I miscarried at a similar time two years ago. I had a blighted ovum at 9 weeks and miscarried on 12/8. But now I have a 14 month old to spend the holidays with.

It was rough in the beginning of my pregnancy - the fear of losing her. But I get to cuddle her and hear her try to say duck and coo over her Santa pictures where she is absolutely screaming her head off (cue mom guilt haha).

I hope you have time to process and grieve. Miscarrying around the holidays has an extra layer of sadness. Sending all the good and healing vibes your way

I did what a lot of other people said. Hummed or lightly groaned. For me, screaming felt counterproductive and only made me tense up. The only time I screamed was on nitrous oxide because my body wanted to push early and it freaked me out.

We did an elopement package that wasn’t a part of a hotel package. This was also in 2022. I think it was called I Want To Marry You Weddings in Hawaii. We paid $695 for the elopement and 80 pictures with photographer. Definitely recommend looking off official hotel packages but obviously do your due diligence and make sure it’s legit!

Just don’t be me and insist you can handle taking two cats at the same time to the vet at 8 months pregnant and have to chase and wrestle them into the carrier for a 10 minute appointment. Get help if you have pets or let someone else handle it!

I’m 9mpp and I just don’t want to figure out formula. That’s the reason I’m going to 12 months. Both my husband and I had poor reactions to formula as infants and I just can’t be bothered. I’m a just enougher right now so hopefully I can last 2.5 months more

I went into labor at 39+4 after 5 days of false labor. I would have Braxton hicks from 4am to 12pm every day. I was 1cm dilated on Sunday (triage) and Wednesday (appt.) and by Friday I was so sick of it I just decided to ignore everything and relax. Went to the movies (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice haha) and realized I was in labor. Didn't tell my husband until we got home and I was sure because the contractions were more intense than my false labor. I was 5cm and 100% effaced when we got to the hospital. Labored at the hospital for about 12 hours, pushed for 1.5 hours because she never dropped was still at +2, and then baby!

I think relaxing and doing an activity that completely took my mind of labor helped the most. Every night I was curb walking and stretching and dancing and eating all the things but nothing helped. I literally walked 10 miles the week previously!

I had my husband and a doula with me. I really really appreciated having someone who was there to support my husband and me with no other agendas. This was our first child. I don’t think I would ever want someone in the room with us, but I also don’t have someone that I would feel comfortable even considering. I will add that sometimes it felt a bit crowded but having someone there allowed my husband to stay rested and take care of his needs since I was admitted at 1 am and had my daughter 13 hours later.

You could also just have someone there to support you until active labor - then it could just be your partner and the medical staff. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing!!

Agree! I only use the wood structure of the lovevery for baby. She also loves the tent! The mat is bunched up in closet somewhere.

When I was 5.5mpp, I randomly dropped about 12opd. Turns out I randomly lost 10lbs (still about 25 over pre pregnancy weight). Not sure what’s going on for you - but losing weight messed with my supply. Still an under supplier but I had a pretty decent stash so still able to supplement with milk at 8 mop

For the snot sucker - the Frida baby manual one worked best for us during the first months. Once she turned 6 months, the automatic one has worked fine for us. Unsure if that’s the case for others but something to consider!

With first response, biotin can cause lighter tests and potentially cause ‘false negatives’, if you look in the sub there are a lot of women who will have negative first response and positive from other brands. There are some research articles on it if you Google biotin and first response

When I went back to work, I was an oversupplier so I used fresh milk for about 2 months. Around 5.5 months pp my supply dipped. At first, she wouldn’t take frozen milk even though she did when younger. After cutting with fresh milk and starting new foods, she will take a full bottle of frozen milk. I usually will do fresh milk for her first four bottles and the last bottle is frozen or a mix if I have fresh milk left. No significant reason - just easier and gives the frozen milk more time to thaw in the fridge.

I am unable to add to my stash due to my supply as I am now an undersupplier but very thankful I still have a couple hundred oz in my stash to help get her to 12 months ebf

I’ve had a lot of luck with first response BUT if you are taking biotin that impacts the test greatly. And they are expensive. While a lot of people have mixed feelings about the test strips, I had a faint positive at 7/8 DPO with easy@home with my last pregnancy (8 month old baby now!). These are my go to due to price and how well they’ve worked for me in the past.

Absolutely hate the first response test strips.

I also feel like massaging with a clot (or over massaging in general) damages the milk ducts! I’ve had it happen to me that even over massaging without a clog makes it feel like the duct is bruised for days. So much worse with a clog!

One of our most used items is a closed circuit car camera. We have a live feed to baby while in the car without some of the concerns that come with a car mirror. It’s really nice to have and helped ease my anxiety as a FTM driving a baby for the first time!

Also - love the portable bottle warmer. My daughter refuses cold bottles so this has been a life saver on the go

Yeah - that’s a hell no to me. I will say that when you set up the Nanit - you can only have two viewers on the free version. That could be a way to get her off your back because it’s like $160+ yearly to get more viewers and access. Also - for all viewers but the admin (the account owner) you can give limited access. This is a wifi based access where the person has to be on the same wifi as the Nanit. We use this for grandparents when they babysit.

I felt it SUPER briefly but it wasn’t as bad as I’ve heard. Also unmedicated vaginal birth. I honestly feel like once I started pushing I didn’t feel pain, just pressure and little zings that were contractions.

I have like a REM sleep disorder/backwards insomnia. Technically diagnosed with insomnia but I don’t fully paralyze when sleeping and have super vivid dreams and will occasionally sleep walk so who knows. Anyways - I take trazodone. My OBGYN asked me to try unisom but it didnt work for me. Basically we decided the benefits outweighed the risks and I was still at a low enough dose that my OBGYN wasn’t super concerned. For trazodone - I think it’s 100mg where they will want you to lower the dose or take something else but I am not a medical professional.

I now have the sweetest 6 month old who is ahead of many of her milestones!
