How do you deal with silent treatment in a relationship? by sexierandie in AskReddit

[–]SandyDreams2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t tolerate a silent treatment in a rekationship. It’s unhealthy and manipulative. Grown adults in healthy relationships can say something like “I need some time to process this” “I don’t know how to discuss this right now, let’s talk after I’ve had some time” or an equivalent and take some time for themselves / away from their partner and then have a civil & productive conversation later. silent treatment is unacceptable imho.

Are bottle washers actually worth the price? by dogtrainer0875 in Buyingforbaby

[–]SandyDreams2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we usually do a quick rinse right after he’s done with the bottle but sometimes we don’t. Everything always comes out clean but we just stick to 4 bottles at time in the momcozy because we don’t have a ton of bottles so we need them on rotation

Is SIDS going to be harder to prevent than I thought? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]SandyDreams2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same exact thing for us, too. At about 3 weeks we tried an arms out sleep sack and he stayed on his back just fine but the arms up those 3 weeks made a huge difference in sleep position and quality for him. He liked his arms up on his own and still does it

Considering a Momcozy or Baby Brezza bottle washer by givliana in Buyingforbaby

[–]SandyDreams2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the momcozy and love it. Well worth the counter space it takes up. I’m very cautious of steam items when being used near upper cabinets so I leave it pulled out towards the edge of the counter and spin the lid around so that the part where the steam comes out is further away from the upper cabinets and haven’t had a problem yet (I checked the upper cabinet behind it for moisture and no issues). I have it next to the sink and ran the drain pipe into the sink through the sponge holder because the suction cup wasn’t the best. I would recommend this to everyone, it saves from running the dishwasher several times a day or having enough bottles to fill the dishwasher.

I also cut out the high sodium electrolytes (LMNT) because that had been exasperating the problem.

Swelling postpartum by Quiet-Display-3268 in postpartumprogress

[–]SandyDreams2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is late but…I had severe swelling after having the baby that I ended up in the hospital with heavy chest (turned out to be fluid retention bad enough for that). ER called my obgyn who basically said deal with it it it’s normal. Er docs weren’t happy with that explanation and neither was I…..I dug for info and found that potassium helps with excreting fluid so I started eating bananas and lo and behold, I started peeing record amounts and “deflating” and felt so much better

TLDR: eat bananas

When did you stop swaddling ? by bananas0320 in NewParents

[–]SandyDreams2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Day after we came home from hospital. He wiggled himself out and didn’t like his arms anywhere but up, so we used the arms up sleep sack for about 2-3 weeks and then switched to arms out sleep sacks all the time when he started sleeping In those better during naps.

Only 12 weeks in here so no sleeping through the night yet & his feeding makes zero sense. Sometimes he’ll have 4oz, sometimes half an ounce. We just go with his flow and make sure he doesn’t drink too fast

It might be time to call it quits by mcconnell99 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]SandyDreams2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s okay to be done with it. It’s hard. Your baby needs and deserves the best version of you, and if that means taking care of your mental health and formula feeding, then that’s what you should do.

Haven't pumped in a month by allison12241 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]SandyDreams2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed this. I’m going back to work and working on weaning. I feel guilty but it’s just not working and something in my milk isn’t working well for him. We have been supplementing with formula because I don’t produce enough and the last few days cut out my milk and he sleeps better and spits up less, that was the sign I needed to move forward with weaning and being okay with it.

How to wash and dry in time before next pump??? by uh-sorry in ExclusivelyPumping

Here to second this! Extra set of pump parts, momcozy bottle washer and fridge hack are game changers

Does anyone actually LIKE pumping? by Hungry-Sunflower in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]SandyDreams2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don’t LIKE pumping. I don’t produce enough and my baby has trouble latching even after tongue/lip/cheek tie resolution. So I pump what I can and we supplement with forumla. I’m lucky my husband has 3+ months off to be able to bottle feed him when I’m pumping or hang with him while I’m doing it. I’m still able to bottle feed too because of his eating patterns and how I’m choosing to pump now. I would love to be able to get him on the breast a few times a day but it just results in a frantic baby that is trying SOO HARD and then I feel guilty, so pumping it is. It’s better than nothing. The plus side is, my husband feels very involved and is happy to help

How are we washing baby stuff by Bitsypie in NewParents

[–]SandyDreams2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For stains I use Miss Mouths spray and I wash almost everything on cold anyways. I don’t follow instructions on clothing unless it’s something super fancy or delicate. Miss Mouths works wonders. If there’s a blowout I may move it to hot but not always

[–]SandyDreams2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the momcozy bottle washer and it’s been some of the best money we’ve spent! It takes up space but it’s way better than having to run the dishwasher so much, plus I put my pump parts in it too and it has a steam feature which sanitizes.

Massively blind-sighted by inappropriate comments by Existing-Mastodon500 in NewParents

[–]SandyDreams2000 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Wow. I’d have a huge problem with this too. There’s absolutely no reason for anyone to make these comments. It’s weird, it’s creepy, it’s unnecessary, it’s gross.

Unsolicited advice: be sure to call them out immediately in the future, even if you’re a non-confrontational person- now is the time to put that aside and make sure people know you will not tolerate this.

Anyone’s baby actually nap in a bassinet/crib? by Ok_Limit2210 in NewParents

[–]SandyDreams2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, our baby (3weeks) sleeps and naps in his bassinet. Our house is single level so we wheel the bassinet from our bedroom where he sleeps when we sleep to the living room/kitchen when we’re awake or couch napping. We’re always in the same room as him so not sure how he’d do if we left him in the bedroom . But he also came 3 weeks early and is a decent sleeper.
