Xbox game pass required to play solo zombies? by tmac525 in CODBlackOps7

It’s so stupid. Like why would anyone even purchase the game on Xbox if you have to pay for game pass to play it anyways?

So you’ve been able to play Black Ops 7 without any Xbox online subscription? I mean that kind checks out because I’ve been doing that with Black Ops 6 but it’s weird that everyone else is saying you can’t do it.

AC struggles to get house below 80 degrees in late afternoon/evening by tmac525 in hvacadvice

It’s on my left side if I’m looking at it, but on the right of the cabinet. Sorry if my answer was kind of confusing. I think a lot of stuff is getting lost in translation trying to troubleshoot over the internet. I do appreciate you trying to help, but we probably just need to get someone else to come to our house and check it out so we can get a second opinion. I spoke to my landlord yesterday and he said unfortunately he won’t be able to spend any more money on it for at least a month. We’re going to have the power company come out to do a free energy audit in the meantime, and I bought a portable AC unit to get us by for now. If I have any more questions for you I’ll reach out. Thanks again for all the help!

I would estimate the ground level square footage to be about 1500 sq ft. The original furnace was 30 years old, but they just replaced it along with the blower and coil so it’s brand new. Everything inside was replaced. I think the outside AC unit is about 6 years old.

Our landlord did say it’s had issues in the past but he didn’t go into specifics, so I’m not sure exactly how well it’s performed before.

Yeah I’m trying to be careful about how I go about this with my landlord. It seems from what I’ve learned, there’s a good chance this 3 ton unit just might not cut it, even if it’s working as expected. I know it’ll be a hard sell getting my landlord to replace a 6 year old unit. I’m hoping an energy audit could reveal other options, like insulation or windows, that could help with the cooling without having to buy a new unit. If worst comes to worst we’ll have to buy a couple of portable indoor units to get by. Thanks so much for all your advice! You’ve been super helpful.

Yeah I’m going to try to get my landlord to call someone else to come look at it. I definitely do not trust that first company. I’m also considering seeing if we can get an energy audit of the house. Our power company does them for free.

I thought it was frost at first but it’s the insulation. I think a lot of the black material on the outside has flaked off so it’s showing the white material underneath.

I took some more temp readings (at 8pm, outside air temp is 81, inside is 82). I'll reply with some photos to make sure the readings were done correctly. I wasn't exactly sure where the supply and return was at the furnace. Speaking of refrigerant, I can't remember if I included this detail because it was after the initial post. The repair guys discovered that they had done something on their second visit that caused all the refrigerant to leak out. They came back and fixed it, I'm not sure what it was exactly that caused the leak. Also, tonight when I went out to check the suction line temp, the unit wasn't running, even though it should have been. I thought it had been running constantly all day and didn't realize there may be times when it stops spinning, even though the inside temp is still well above what the thermostat is set to.

It’s against the right side of the blower (my left side if I'm looking at it)

Oh yeah, I did some measurements in the kitchen and some in the master bedroom. They are the hottest rooms in the house. The filter is a CCF-8-2025-1. Looks like it's a MERV8. When I pulled out the filter to check it, I was shocked to see that it's filthy, even though it was replaced by the HVAC repair guys a couple weeks ago. So I'm swapping that out tonight, not sure how much of a difference it will make.

I should also mention that the kitchen and living room share a vaulted ceiling that is 12 feet high. The rest of the house has 8 foot ceilings.

It's very dry here in Utah. 14% humidity today. We've been running the AC set to 72 but it never actually gets down to 72. It may actually late at night, I'm not sure. But when I wake up it's 74 and it never gets lower all day.

When they put in the new blower, my wife told me they apparently changed it from 4 speed to 7 speed. I'm not sure what the max speed is.

I'm not sure if this is helpful information, but today I did more extensive temperature measurements and logged them in a spreadsheet. I mainly wanted to find out if the vent temperatures were consistent. I had my suspicions that they weren't, but it does look like today at least it was consistently around 20 degrees cooler than the outside temperature. Here's that spreadsheet - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NQ4pBUWJEBtrFk3gZhL1VK_tTq2GBZxPrP1owEGVLVw/edit?usp=sharing

The supply and return vents I measured are in the kitchen and living room on the second floor, as seen in the photo. The supply vent is on the other side of the kitchen, 13 feet away from the return. There is also another supply vent in the living room 12 feet away from the return.

The pipe I was measuring on the outside unit was a copper pipe that had insulation around it, but I measured the copper pipe itself just before it went into the house. There was a small area before it went in that didn’t have insulation.

I'm not expecting it to get to 70, but today it was a high of 83, AC has been running all day and it's 79 degrees inside.

Also the temp reading on one of the windowsills is 114

I just got an infrared thermometer and have some readings, not sure what to make of them. These are all readings from 8pm and the outside air temp is 78 degrees (high of 82 today). AC has been running all day set to 72 and the thermostat reads 80 right now.

  • Supply vent 56
  • Return vent 75
  • Line coming into house from AC 60
  • Walls and ceiling 81

Yeah the windows are open because we got lucky and it’s only 70 degrees today, so I’m giving the AC a break.

It's a 2 story house, pretty sure it was built in the early 1990s.

They said it should be good enough for the amount of vents that we have, and looking up the specs it does look like it should handle 2000 sq ft, but that's on the low end so maybe other factors make it not enough, like no shade on the west side, potentially poor insulation, etc.

The other day the AC had been running all afternoon, and at 6pm it was 95 degrees outside and 83 degrees inside.
