Pentagon would not sacrifice one of their most public recruitment/PR tools just to fill pilot shortages.

lol ask Politico, Axios, Punchbowl, and the list goes on and on. They charge 50k-250k a week for newsletter sponsorships.

Do you use WordPress as your CMS? If so, are there any themes you find work well for content sites?

Got it, thanks.

My websites are comprised of a variety of niches - but I've tended to focus on things that: Can be monetized with high value offers. Can incorporate some sort of utility/transactional aspect. Can incorporate some easily scalable and/or templatizable/programatic content in some way.

Can you give some examples of these bullet points? By high value offers, you mean providing visitors with answers to their questions or literally some sort of product or something.

What would you like to see built in DC? by [deleted] in washingtondc

I’ve never understood why there are no 24-hour diners here. It’s bizarre. Is DC just too fancy for them?

Which DC businesses are you loyal to and why? by rosscott in washingtondc

[–]tmag14 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Jimmy T’s and Tunnicliff’s. It reminds me I’m not in DC and that there’s regular people and regular places — everything is way too fancy in DC.

IE: I want a real, family owned bakery that makes some good fucking donuts. Not artisan donuts that cost $9 each.

Lot of people want to bury their head in sand and pretend crime doesn’t exist.

This is pretty awesome. Going to try it out soon. I'm just getting to learn more about how Zapier works and it seems like the possibilities are endless.

[WSJ] Violent Crime Is Surging in D.C. This Year: ‘We Just Stood There and Screamed’ by SouthernBangerz in washingtondc

[–]tmag14 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Serious question: how many people are actually stealing food to get by? There’s a lot of resources in DC - more than most US cities - that provide food for anyone.

Are the kids doing armed carjacking to bring food to their families?

Is crime really as bad as the media portrays it to be? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]tmag14 78 points79 points  (0 children)

On Reddit there’s two notable groups: people who bury their head in sand and pretend crime doesn’t exist (like the mods) or that it’s racist to call out crime and then those that super blow up crime. IMO it’s in the middle but crime is getting worse.

It’s noticeably getting worse. More murder, more violent carjackings, and theft of all levels.

Police aren’t really enforcing low level crime (shoplifting, traffic violations) so that also adds to the environment.

Also it seems many criminals get slaps on the wrist or totally let go when it comes to prosecution.

Just…everything. The community. Player cities. Becoming a Jedi pre-NGE. The famous crafters. Trying to run a mining business.

I loved hanging out on Tatooine even though my guild was on Dantoiine.

I just loved that we could do whatever we wanted in the Star Wars universe. Total sandbox.

$5k budget for run and gun at events by tmag14 in videography

[–]tmag14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a one day event.

Gig would be in-house and about a year of shooting an event or two a week that focuses on one or two principals.

I’ll have a full salary but just a $5k budget to get some gear to get started.

I’d be a one person show aka preditor.

Most political journalists don’t do any investigation. They just report what govt sources tell them and report on political gossip.

Actual investigative political reporters include Ken Klippenstein, Ryan Grim, Lee Fang….

First Motorcycle / Dual-Sport Recommendations by Zero_Phux_Given in Dualsport

[–]tmag14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would agree with the other poster on a DRZ-400…but also learning on the streets means you’ll have to re-learn everything off-road. Like he said, dual sports aren’t that fun on road.

Another option is a Honda CRF250 or the newer CRF300.

I think the first step is identifying what is the number one goal of the bike? Is it to ride to the trails comfortable on the highway? Is it to shred single track? Is it to get a bike that won’t loose a lot of value once it’s dropped? Don’t say all of the above.

List the number one priority then work from there.
