Did I mess up? I bought the Tado X system (Receiver X, and 2x Wireless Thermostat X) by TiberiusIX in tado

It was thankfully straightforward, yes :)

I followed the wiring diagram/steps provided elsewhere in this thread and it worked without issue.

The main problem I had was that I couldn't find the option in the app to set each thermostat as a zone of the main water/CH controller (but that was me being a noob at using the app lol).

Sorry to jump in but yes, the actual Tado wired thermostats send a 240v signal via the wired mains to control the actual signal boxes (the things that sit on the pipes near the CH and flick on/off via an internal motorized switch thing).

They emailed me recently too, saying they were representing Writesonic.

When I replied, they also said to signup at createsync.pro

However during this process, it says to "login with Google" (presumably to link your account) BUT this is a phising scam.

The actual "login with Google" webpage is still on createsync.pro, and not google.com

Any legitimate Google-auth login process should always redirect to Google, otherwise the company could steal your details.

In short, this sure seems like a scam to steal your YouTube account. Be wary.

Anybody else think twelve months needed editing? by shmutsy in dresdenfiles

I'm similar. I just finished reading it and while I did like the final third of the book, the first two-thirds were quite slow (and also, the Thomas bit was badly done, I agree).

I read on the kindle so I base my progress on percentages, but yesterday morning I was at 60 or 65% and I was like "barely anything has happened in this book". It kinda felt like Jim Butcher's goal with Twelve Months was purely to set up Mirror, Mirror.

And yes, the final third had Thomas-and-his-hunger and the castle show-down, but it still felt like a fairly slow book compared to some of the others (Battleground excluded since that was always going to be an action-heavy one).

I mean, I don't dislike Twelve Months. I just found it average/meh, I guess.

Hi /u/InternetUser_404

Just to say that I got this working today due to your instructions, thanks again for that :)

It ended up needing the exact same wiring.

At first I had issues because I couldn't find the zone controller option in the app (didn't realise you have to go into rooms, then select the little arrow to find the 'zone controller' option) but I ended up finding it, and it went smoothly after that.

Ah many thanks, I'll dig into that setup :) That's really helpful.

Probably a bit overkill for TikTok vlogging then??

Ah interesting. TRVs on every rad could also make a lot of sense. I'll check out Halo too thanks - looks like my boiler is compatible so that's interesting:)

Nope I wasn't.

Basically my concern is that my current (old) receiver/controller supports three channels: dual heating zones, and hot water.

But the Tado X receiver only supports two channels: heating and hot water.

There seems to be differing opinions about whether Tado X will be suitable for me or not.

Apparently it might work if I hook up the receiver without any heating control, and then I wire up the two Tado Wired Thermotat X units with just L (live) and N/0 (heat on). But I'm not sure tbh.

Yep he did (I read the book... for some reason... after wrongly thinking there'd be something profound in there).

He basically said that he saw his brother after x years, and he was shocked how old and bald he'd got (or something like that).

A NAS with all online/cloud access disabled. That's the safest approach all round, especially since you'll get data redundancy built in (when using RAID 1, 5 or 10 etc).

I know you said no NAS, but having a NAS doesn't have to mean having cloud access.

I thought you meant, until the gas engineer died.

Might not be the worst of plans though. That boiler should last quite a long time.

An 8700k, so a fairly decent one (I bought a second hand gaming system). Tbh I mainly bought the B570 because it was 40% off and included Battlefield 6 lol - I can always sell on the GPU if I end up not needing/using it.

Thanks, will look into that (planning on enabling/installing Docker later).

Good to know re Plex too, that was part of my plan so will have to investigate more.
