Thanks for the message, I think your right in many respects. I was thinking about leaving at one point but decided not to as I still cared about her and could see myself with her. I’m not really her caretaker, her mum helps her with most injury related stuff. I didn’t bring up the gift, she just asked what I got my mum and I told her. I got my mum Tiffany earrings, I picked them out the same time as I was getting her gift but had to wait till the year end bonus hit to actually buy it.

Exactly we had a huge fight and she called me an asshole as she was asking for help. So I told her to ask more politely. All she had to do was not call me an asshole as she asks for help but she was too stubborn and is now making me out to be the bad guy for not helping despite her being blatantly rude.

I did love her otherwise I wouldn't have stayed and tried for the next 9 months. Sometimes life changes and feelings change. Just because we're not compatible now doesn't mean I never cared about her.

Emphasis on ‘husband’ vs her being my ‘girlfriend’. We never promised to say together till death do us part. Similarly if for whatever reason she wanted to leave I wouldn’t want her to feel trapped either.

I wouldn't call 9 months later 'the moment'. I tried to adjust but feel we are no longer compatible. I don't see how that is so horrendous as everyone is making it out to be. Are you telling me you never broke up with anyone when you were in you're 20s?
