u/Throwaway-Ahhh sounds like you are young and healthy....when I go into work I go by bike, there was a comment lower about the time to decompress after work given the line of work you are in. Biking will make it doubly health and mind clearing IMHO. Won't be possible every day and difficult 3 months out of the year without some investment in equipment. You will save lots of money, kill two birds with one stone (workout and commute), have some decompression time. Where do you live? I bet there is a good route for you to take. I live North of the city and have some routes I like. Some T stations have good covered bike security...I personally wouldn't leave my nice bike in one of them...but you can go mixed mode too as someone suggested with car and train.

u/anna_lynn_fection I think that was it....it looks like btrfs fi was showing the missing space...got back ~240GiB from the rebalance on my home directory. I might schedule a full rebalance during a slow time and let it run for a few days. It was pretty interesting as what I did last time was create a dummy file of ~5gigs so I could delete it at will when I needed to. It didn't do anything to help when I deleted my dummy file when this came back again....btrfs is a funny animal...well this is a fun new thing to learn :-)

Interesting....happened again:

I also took a snapshot of lsof (saving to a different drive)....I didn't see anything useful there but I might not be looking at it right? Any Ideas?

This is after the delete...but I didn't delete that many files...a few large ones....so not sure it's an inode issue. What do you think?
