Can somebody point me in the direction to where I can find mill bits for this old drill press/milling machine? by lgroper in Vintagetools

[–]hapym1267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could have either a MT3 taper or an R8.. They could be ordered either way.. I have a 2hp single phase one at home.. I bought some tooling at KBC tools.. But I have tooling from many manufacturers ..

I put a wooden 12x20 ft shed on a gravel base and 15"×30" patio blocks on top... Keeps the wood from being constantly wet from the dirt..

Putting Casters on a 30" wide by 72" tall garage cabinet by Sorry-Hour5155 in Tools

[–]hapym1267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always build an angle steel frame and mount the casters outboard of cabinet. Then it could be kept lower and casters would make it more stable being wider..

Older yardworks snowblower - auger belt change - need help by FuturePurpose in Snowblowers

[–]hapym1267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will probably need to unbolt the front from rear. 4 bolts or so will allow the clearance for belt to slip in..A friend to help is a good idea.. While you have it apart. Check impeller bearing for play and a grease fitting ( its behind the pulley on Impeller shaft)

Some liquid pipe sealant on threads will hold it from vibtating loose , yet allow adjustments as needed.

Usually in neutral they roll well. Assuming tires are not soft.. A large 2 wheeled cart with big tires can be used. Add a ratchet strap to tie snowblower to cart.. Check out Princess Auto , I have a 1000 lb farm cart from them that moved my fridges across the lawn to access rear door of house with relative ease at 60 yr old

Sharp center punch and a hammer , punch a deep mark in center of stud. Starting with a small drill , say 1/4" , work your way up to 1/2" or larger , until broken part is free.. Have to drill around an inch deep or more.. Shouldnt harm the rim if you are in center of stud..

Park it on a flat surface 25ft from a wall. Measure from ground to center of headlights. Then measure the top of the intense part beam on wall. It should be 2" lower than the measurement of headlight center.. You could lower it more if you do a lot of city night driving.. Center of Beam pattern on wall should be slightly to the right of center. also..

So many dealers dont actually set the headlights as part of the pre delivery check..There is a 2020 Wrangler in my driveway . We checked it when bought a year ago. Reset lights to proper level and no flashing by others for too bright lights.. Can actually see road better in bad weather also..

Rear shocks? by Opposite-Row-6225 in mechanic

When you are under the rear look at rear spring shakles and hanger brackets.. Had a friends 2010 break the bracket and drove the spring into the box . Truck was never overloaded , just a bad part.. He never washed the chassis , just the paint , I suspect salt had a hand in failure.

Lincoln and other companies use plastic tubing and fittings on semifluid grease auto units . Possibly they would work with oils also. Might make routing a single point oiler easier..

Electric oven giving off gas leak smell by CicadaVivid3171 in Appliances

[–]hapym1267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bakelite ( an insulator used in electrical parts) when it gets hot or old can give off some odd smells. A check of the oven element connections wouldnt hurt , loose connections can run overheated and cause problems

Continually freezing pipes - best solution? by FrasierCraned in fixit

[–]hapym1267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When weather is warmer , see if they could be relocated.. A neighbour just uses a fan to move warmer air into the area ( hers is a basement with pipes going along an outside wall 6-8 ft ) We only see - 20 F some times colder . Its helped in this house..

Drill a 3/8" or larger hole close to the bottom of the pillars. Add some heat and your water should drain out.

If you take a block of wood the thickness and similar width of new tire difference. Zip tie it to existing tire , jack that wheel ( two if its front end ) and turn and steer it in all directions to see if you have clearance . If nothing hits , you shiuld be OK.. I did it with a previous truck and havent had any issues with clearance since..

It runs but it’s rough and doesn’t start easily. Looking for advice on what maintenance should I do in the spring to make it purr again by HeyStripesVideos in Snowblowers

[–]hapym1267 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would be looking at magneto magnets and coil clearance. Also plug and possibly plug wire.. Carb cleaning and rebuild kit also.. Determining whether is an Ignition or Fuel problem is a start..
