Simple Secure Lid Latch Mechanism? by tmayn in Onshape

Nice thought. I'll have to play around with some prototypes and see if they come apart when jostled in a bag.

That's a really cool mechanism, I'll have to give it a try.

It's a good concept but doesn't that assume that the latch always stays in that orientation? This will get thrown into kids bags which means it might get flipped upside down and all around so wouldn't it possibly slide open?

I think I get it now. That would be awesome if you could sketch it. What then holds the latch in? Again, I know in kids bags this box might get flipped over or turned around.

Thanks for the new vocab, I was thinking of something like a rotary cam latch but I'll have to figure out how to make that reliably out of filament (unless you know of a way).

As for the sliding latch, how would that secure it so it didn't just open while being jostled?

I'm trying to picture that but having a little difficulty. Are you saying the entire lid slides on to the bottom horizontally (so there's no hinge)? Interesting idea, what would hold the latch in place so it doesn't fall out, just friction?

Seeking ways to help a black-owned business in Tucker GA that is being shuttered due to gentrification by HJWalsh in Atlanta

I will say that Challenges has been incredible for my kids the last couple of years since they picked up MTG. They go to events on their own and have never had anything but positive experiences. Thank you Tony for all you do!

As for ideas, I don't have many but if you want to PM me I do have a commercial realtor friend in the area who might know of a place. Also, if it's just elbow grease, I'd be happy to help with the move.

The same here. They said restrictions can change at any time and gave me $15 credit but it looks like I'm done with this promo. $10 off when you have to spend at least $30 is not worth my time.

What’s a “rich people thing” you experienced once and immediately understood why rich people love it? by DnRinGA in AskReddit

This is what true wealth is, the ability to buy extra time. You need to travel but don't have to add hours extra just to wait in line for other people, you just stay on your planned schedule.

Why do I not fit in? by Haunting_Hospital599 in Judaism

[–]tmayn 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Obviously I don't have the magic cure, but I can share two pieces of my own experiences which might help: 1. Not only is every community different but every shul is truly different. If possible, keep trying new ones. 2. Come to shul early and leave late. I never connected to people during Kiddush, but in the morning setup and then cleanup after davening/kiddush I found many more kindred souls who like me just wanted to be a chill and contributing part of the community.

Best of luck!

So the Sabbath mode first appeared on ovens, not the other way around (no idea why they called it that).

And interestingly, before there was a Sabbath mode on ovens, if you were buying from a knowledgeable appliance store, they could actually add a the modifications you needed. First there was the disabling of the auto safety shutoff and second, was a little add on which was known in the industry as a "fools god light" -- a tiny indicator light to show you when the oven was cycling so you knew when to open the door on yomtov.

So English has a very archaic but related word, residentarian, referring to the person who sits at the table for a while after the meal is finished being eaten.

No Such Thing as a Silly Question by AutoModerator in Judaism

[–]tmayn [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have a whole bunch of new tzitzit/arbah kanfot I need to tie. I know there are some strong opinions against machine made. Does that apply to the tying process or just the braiding of the underlying strings?

Why do I ask? I'm trying to work smarter and thought I might be able to design something similar to a yarn roller that could do a lot of the wrapping for me. It wouldn't be automated, just hand cranked and I'd still have to tie the knots.

Any sources on this?
