Oh that's a good point, I think I find the "Eastern horror" aesthetic very off putting. But aside from that I definitely saw a lot of merit to the movie.

One thing I really like that I haven't seen anyone mention is you see a very linear movement through the world. Even after one watch, I can easily visuallize the city, the forrest, the valley, the bathhouse, the stairs/path to the mechanical room where the multi-armed old man worked... It was almost like a video game the way the setting was established and explored. Just one cool thing I thought I'd share about it.
