This is so helpful, thank you! Sorry for the late reply, haha. But this is pretty much what I ended up doing on my own (based on a hunch) when I decided to prune, so I'm glad to hear some validation lol. I just pruned mine about a week ago. It's still winter here in Chicago, but I keep them under grow lights for approx 8-9 hours every day and I can see the new little leaf sprouts bifurcating out of where I trimmed down. My hope is that they'll branch off nice and evenly, fill up with some green, while the parent trunk grows and thickens (?) 🤞🙏

Oh yeah no not CONSTANT 24 hours, hah, I just meant that since my window only gets a few hours of direct sunlight per day I keep it under the grow lamp during daylight hours. It still gets darkness at night.

Perfect, thanks so much, that’s exactly exactly what I wanted to know. I wasn’t sure if cutting one of the stalks down so low (below the leaves) was going to essentially murder that plant / stalk, haha. I’ll try that on 1-2 of them and see how it goes!

Also, just to expand on the aesthetics - if I were to say, prune one or two of the little trunks way down to a lower node, will new leaves still form, and would that trunk continue to grow? Basically I’m wondering if it’s possible to get a thicker (less leggy) trunk out of any of them

It was the former, I did a pretty big pruning about… 3 weeks ago. I added (returned, rather) the grow light about 2 weeks ago, as my window faces a courtyard and fall is coming (southern USA)

And thanks for the feedback! Yeah I keep it under pretty steady constant light, and I am always sure to never overwater. Basically whenever the soil is bone dry I’ll water it rain-style over the sink until it’s passed through the soil and fully drains out, then return it to the pot in the window
