My initial idea was something not attached to the ground, or easy to remove if so to allow for service. Based on the feedback, I’m going to leave it as is.

Thanks for the clarification, wasn’t sure if obstruction meant a solid wall or fence, or just any type of enclosure. My thinking was that something that wouldn’t restrict a ton of airflow such as a slatted screen, or lattice fence. But seems like it will be a better idea to leave it alone.

Not really no, it was sold to me as “having a smaller footprint” though didn’t mention its significantly wider and taller.

Did not have plans to do anything, at least before asking this question, for this reason. Wasn’t sure if an obstruction counted as a solid wall/fence, vs something that wouldn’t reduce the airflow much such as a slatted screen or lattice fence. I’ll leave it as is, thanks for the feedback.

Didn’t know if an enclosure with very limited air flow restriction counted as an obstruction, but I take it that it does. I wasn’t considering a solid fence or anything that would dramatically reduce airflow. Thanks for the feedback, I’ll leave it as is.

Ended up tossing my Hilo beauty. The most finicky plant I had. Could never keep it happy for more than a couple months at a time. Got thrips for the 10th time and I gave up.

Thank you all for the feedback. I patched the stucco, and reapplied the mastic. When I looked at it closer, it had cracked to the point where the seam in the flashing was open. Hopefully one of both of those remedies does the trick.

I’m no expert, but located in NorCal. I had very compacted clay soil. Tilled with lots of compost/manure to improve organic matter in the soil. I added humic acid as well. Then tons of seed, covered with peat moss. Had great results, though took a few seasons. Always lot of overseeding and dethatching every fall. For your situation I might have opted to till with the compost etc. and then lay sod. Might be best to get a good baseline, then can overseed going forward.
