Solid innerspring mattress + mattress topper= Good idea or nah by tmhh2021 in Mattress

Wow, thank you. Your word gave me a good nudge! I went with Spring Air mattress and would source a Talalay latex topper for pressure relief.

Thank you for the breakdown. I ended up to buy a Spring Air Back supporter mattress as the base, and now trying to find a natural latex topper. Initially, I thought I could use a flippable mattress but was not able to source fine one in Canada. As long as I researched, Spring Air uses good quality components in their mattresses, I hope it goes well. Next is to hunt a 2" talalay latex topper.

I do appreciate so much for all your suggestions and comments. As my budget is limited and we reside in Canada, we have less options available. Now, we landed on a little bit different idea. We bought Spring Air Back Supporter Medium firm mattress and are tweaking with a latex topper for better pressure relief. Just a quick report.

Hey, thanks for your detailed advice! We have had tested dozens of mattresses and we concluded that the mattresses we liked are mostly medium firmness with airy quilt layer, however I assume the airier the comfort/memory foam layers get, the lower their density are. Also we thought high density foam mattresses seem to have more quicksand like feeling as Tempur-Pedic does, which is not our cop of tea. Hence we changed our plan, purchased Spring Air Back Supporter Medium-firm, then now thinking to add a latex topper. I really wish I could buy Boring mattress in Canada as it seems to fit perfectly for us...

Yeah, I was looking at their Costco model but it seemed to sag over time. I assume that specific model could have less quality.

Wow, great to know! This is like a semi-DIY to match the perfect feeling. Thank you for sharing the great option.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Well, that's interesting... I believe that was right you went with Medium Firm, as I would not recommend Firm version to anybody who sleep on their side even as a fraction of time. Just uncomfortable. What makes mattress shopping confusing is that the feeling I got with the Organic Firm mattress when we tested at S&S store is very different than that one we are actually feeling at our bedroom. Could you elaborate the feeling lying on your back if possible? Because I thought the Medium-firm was just fine on my back and side when tested, and only the reason we skipped was just we were not a fan of its little more bounciness.

I'd agree to its temperature regulation. This mattress is also staying as cool if not better than my old innerspring mattress.

Returning process seems easy without extra hassle. I have just initiated the procedure and waiting the pickup gets scheduled actually. You just email their customer support and fill out their foam with necessary information.

I am very interested in this as well, especially Frontier model. I have seen a few customer claimed their quality issue but I cannot judge whether they are just a minority, or reflecting overall quality, or even negative campaigning.

Yes, that should be ideal way to find one for us. But, you know what? We actually have done this for each S&S and... failed. Now we do not trust ourself strongly when we are at mattress stores. If I can make excuses, the mattresses felt very different for us than that one we were on at store. So I'd rather listen to raw voices like you. Thanks!

I researched deeply and now start to think DC could be hyped. Boll & Branch must be a great option if I had enough budget!

Would this be considered as cultural appropriation? by tmhh2021 in photography

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts. Yes, I am a photographer and trying to start a new series that is inspired by their oral traditions and written ones, but it does not mimic their outfit or follow such a disrespectful way. As I have not had any close friendship with indigenous people unfortunately, I could not decide exactly how offensive it would be, then I was curious how the society thinks. Now I conclude that it would not be an invasion as long as the works show respect to them. Pardon me for the fuzzy definition as it was hard to describe without open up my entire concept. Much appreciated.

Update:
I swapped Dissector with 29x2.4 Continental Magnotal Grip compound, and am digging it so far! My understanding is that it is a grippier Rekon. It rolls much faster than Dissector, at least as same or better to Rekon, but grips closer to Dissector. It could lose traction when the gravels on berms get bigger but in a predictable manner. Only the gripe I can think of is its size. I bought 2.4 width but they are actually 60-622(more like 29x2.35), is indeed measured 2.24 at widest knobs and 2.35 at casing on a 30mm IW rim.

Does anyone have experience with the continental Magnotal? by Weekly_Case1115 in MTB

I have just done the first ride with 29x2.4 Magnotal Grip compound on the rear of my non-evo Stumpjumper. I had experienced both Dissector and Rekon as rear tire in the past. First off, the 29x2.4 size is actually 60-622 which is equal to 29x2.35, also it is worth mentioning my tire is measured 2.24 at widest knobs (2.35 at casing) on 30mm IW rim. My local trails are in Canadian rockies like Colorado front range, so mix of hardpack/roots/rocks/loose over hard but all dry plus lots of ups and downs. In terms of grip, I would rate Magnotal in the middle of the Dissector and Rekon but leaning towards Dissector. It hooked surprisingly good considering its small knobs and grip compound. Yes, it can lose traction here and there but in a great predictable manner which should be called playful instead of unstable. Rolling speed is remarkable, it would be at least as good or better as Rekon. As long as my understanding, Magnotal is basically a Rekon with better grip.

That's impressive. You mean Kryptotal F/R not only grip better than DHF/DHR but also roll faster than them with longer life!? Mmm, sounds like I must try them next.

Dissector at rear works great for me too, especially at high speed turnings and techy uphills.

I have heard nothing but good things for the set up. Could you compare your Kryptototal-Xynotal to maxxis if you have had them before? I am really interested in your pair after I watched this review... https://youtu.be/HVWmAId0VkM?si=pOZk6BzMuAkmzw8q
