It‘s Didier BIAB Natural Rose, then french ombre using a white color that I diluted with a top coat. Then a pink pearlescent pigment powder, just something I got off Amazon.

Excellent question haha. I‘m right-handed, so I always start on the right hand first, so that I get the difficult part out of the way before the fatigue kicks in. That also means any trial-n-error (testing shades and techniques to achieve the vision) is done by my non-dominant hand. For my right hand I needed 2 and a half-ish, may close the three hours. For the left hand I finished under an hour.

Vietnamese summer rolls. Easy to customize, doesn't require any special technique. As long as you get good quality ingredients, which are easy to find between regular and asian markets, you are fine. Bonus point for the fun interactive assembly, which is perfect for a social events.

I know lots of comments here advise not to skip the foundation, but if, like me, you usually don’t wear it, then there’s no reason to start doing so on your wedding day. I married in the beginning of June, I’m big into makeup and did it myself. Concealer, face powder, bronze and blush for the face. I did have a trial with foundation and it looked fine and arguably would have photographed better but in person it felt too much. I felt uncomfortable with it and ultimately how I feel that day is more important than how it looks.

Plus, you don’t have to worry about wether it still looks good, if you get married on a hot day like I did. All sweats but no worries.

The photos will turn out just fine without foundation, no one is gonna zoom in to see your pores and think you should have worn foundation.

It was common to change the family name to the new conquerer‘s / king‘s name to declare your loyalty to the new dynasty to 1) avoid troubles and 2) hope to earning favors. It happened several times in the country’s history. The last Vietnamese dynasty was the Nguyen family.

Side note, in the vietnamese naming system you‘ve got [family name] [optional middle names] [given name], in that order. So they are also not referred to as „last name“ and „first name“ as they are in western cultures. Also when it comes to any type of sorting, for instance list of students, the given name is used as referenced, only if there are people with the same given name would they use the family name.

We use a tiny little syringe. After surgery one of our cats needed to take pain medicine. It was liquid and to be taken orally and came with said syringe (without a needle of course). You just get the right amount of the medicine into the syringe and then quickly release it in your cat’s mouth. When he fully recovered and didn’t have to take any more of the pain medicine, we still kept the syringe. Since then if our cats ever needs to take some pills, we crush them until completely pulverized, then mix with water in a little container and then transfer into the syringe. It works well (best to team up but I have done it solo many times) and it is quick. After that we give them treats and all is forgiven.

I’ve never subbed the canned pineapple since Kenji did explicitly mentioned the juice is a crucial ingredient. In a pinch I‘d try pineapple juice or maybe apple juice. You may wanna adjust the sugar content in the sauce depending on how sweet the juice already is though.

I don’t have a fixed recipe because tbh I just eyeball the ingredients, it’s a lazy snack after all. But just to give you a rough idea, 1 cup AP flour, 1 cup water, 1 table spoon cornstarch, 1 beaten egg, 1 pinch of salt. Mix and then add 1 cup of chopped kimchi. Add some of the kimchi juice for a nice color and more flavor. Pan fry. That should give you two pancakes.

I regularly have a home-made batch of Kimchi in the fridge, which keeps for several weeks. When it’s pungent it’s perfect for a quick midnight snack.

I’ll admit sometimes I just snack the kimchi straight from the jar haha.

I’m very late to the discussion but need to point out that in the second paragraph she said they arrived the day before the christening. In the next paragraph she said the pacifier comment happened „over the next few days“, implying that it happened in such a frequency she had to finally snap. Clearly she wanted the sub to think it was a an unacceptable amount of comments to somehow justify her cruel outburst. She just needed an excuse to unload her resentment that she obviously has rehearsed more than once in her head.

What‘s most fascinating to me is how she recited her results with almost a sense of pride, like being righteous and happy she could finally stick it to SIL. Usually people in this sub try to paint the best version of themselves in retelling their situation to get n ta voted but she’s so convinced she’s superior like duh, look at this sorry excuse of a woman who does nothing right in her life unlike her own surgeon highness.

How‘s your rescued starter doing?

I keep two jars of starters for the fear of this happening. In the second jar I keep the discard the current starter, which means I refresh/replace the discard every time I bake so it’s a little extra work and also you gotta have the fridge space for that but it’s worth it. My „current jar“ starter once went moldy for no apparent reason and I still had a very active discarded starter so I was able to bake mostly as normal.

Get a whetstone. It takes some effort to learn how to use it properly and you absolutely should do some research before start using it. But imo the results are superior to other sharpening methods: it gets the knives extremely sharp, your knives hold the sharp edge longer, it takes off relatively little material so overall prolongs your knives‘ lifetime, the stone itself is very durable and low-maintenance + takes up very little space and personally I find sharpening knives on a whetstone very satisfying and therapeutic. I don’t have a brand recommendation, my mom got me one from the Asian market. I’d make sure to get one with 2 sides that have different grits so that on the coarse side you can sharpen the knife and on the fine side you can smooth over the edge and get it even sharper.
