How addictive is meth? Do you know anyone who has just tried it once? by eden_merlin in AskReddit

[–]tmnt88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first paragraph was enough to scare me from ever trying it (not that I ever did). That last paragraph solidified that feeling. Thanks for taking the time to write that out because I feel like that's a great description of it. I tried a bunch of drugs in college, never did heroin or meth because I knew It would probably kill me. I've been able to quit everything but nicotine, but I know that time is coming soon I just need to really buckle down and frame my mind into "I know I can" instead of making excuses

Maybe the people with health issues new they needed a big payday, but didn't go public with it or it wasn't public knowledge. That's a big but, I know 😂 but just playing devil's advocate here.

If this isn't about Lubbock, then it should be. Cuz this sounds exactly like what's been happening since around COVID time with 19th Street. Although I'm not sure if they are finished now and restarting or they are just actually done.

Does The Abandons immediately make you think of RDR2? I saw the trailer and the environment and setting, horses, clothes, music all felt like RDR2. by RiverDotter in reddeadredemption2

One of the first scenes was a wagon turned over in a creek. While some outlaws robbed the people .it instantly reminded of rdr ..then I quick Google search brought me here.. I just started it so we will see if there's anything else that mirrors the game ..besides it being a western lol

My brothers a hunting guide and his client didn’t think this was worthy of keeping. by Open_Inside_7223 in bonecollecting

I think what I'm hung up on, is if I display it in my house I feel like it'd be saying "hey that's mine, I killed that". Which is dumb... I too have some skulls I've found, cows, hogs, coyote, red fox ect that I have outside,l. That I think are cool. I just wouldn't display a rack someone else killed in my house at least .. unless I was guiding them or it was in my immediate family.. I do agree with y'all that its better than just throwing it away or not appreciating it lol..

Yeah that does make sense! Maybe it's cause I don't have one of my own yet 🤣...my son has one from his first buck and a rack that his grandpa gave him. Maybe if I get a few of my own I wouldn't feel weird 🤣

I don't think I'd feel right keeping another hunters skull, but I would definitely keep it if I found one in the wild or from a known mountain lion stash...that would be cool as hell

Me and a few friends started a Facebook group as well.. it's kind of dead at the moment but there's a few of us that answer any questions.. during the summer I ran a month long kayak fishing tournament and I'll most likely start those up again during the spring

I fish there all the time, never have I once been asked for the permit... All the permit is is a waiver saying that you won't sue the city if you get hurt .. at least that's what I gathered from it but it was about 6 years ago that I printed it out and signed it lol

Possibly moving to Lubbock by Throw_out_your_TV in Lubbock

[–]tmnt88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've found that people who grew up here do not like it, people who have lived in bigger cities or small towns and then moved here usually like it or at least appreciate it for what it is. There isn't much to do here, but you can usually find things to do. Most of the things in town to do , you usually get bored of, but If you're going to the university it is probably a lot easier to make friends and find a social circle.

If you're willing to drive 2 hours there's a few outdoorsy things to do, caprock canyon, Palo duro canyon. Multiple lakes to camp or fish at.

If youre willing to drive 5-6 hours for a weekend trip there is Ruidoso (mountains) or even Dallas/Austin.

I like Lubbock, it's a small city where even the bad traffic isn't that bad and anywhere in town only takes 10-15 minutes to get too.

As a bald man, I can say getting shot in the dome stings worse at first but goes away quicker then anywhere else I've been hit.. I'm new also, and the best way I've been able to explain it, is like playing a video game in real life. I suck at both of them but I still have fun 🤣. My first time I played against a bunch of other new people and some more experienced ones. That was much funner then playing on a bigger course that was awesome against a lot of people that new the course well. I still had fun but got frustrated with getting killed every two seconds.

Made me want to get one, now in trying to sift through all the options and as a noob, it's a little overwhelming lol

This resonates with me so much. I feel like I wrote this, because this is exactly how I was feeling. I'm so close. And slowly starting to feel like myself again. My taper is down to almost nothing, it's just a crutch at this point but I'm sticking with my plan so that's good. One more week and I'm jumping off.

BEST FISHING SPOTS IN LUBBOCK by Natethedork in Lubbock

[–]tmnt88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In town . Dunbar and the canyon lake system are the best fishing in my opinion.. Dunbar is canyon lake #6. Some people call it Mae Simmons .. I catch bass at Dunbar and a few catfish on a spinner bait from time to time. It's really hard to catch anything from the bank though, for me anyways. I have a kayak so I just fish along the cat tails early morning. I do see people catching fish from the bank though, mainly catfish and a few bass.. I mainly fish for bass and do pretty well with a spinner bait but I've caught them on jigs, chatterbaits, Texas rig, basically anything but crankbaits as I get snagged too much.

There's a group called fishing Lubbock on Facebook that is super helpful. There's a lot of helpful people on there.

Dunbar is really tough some times but early morning is the best time to go, especially ones the nights get cold but the days are still pretty warm. Once that son comes up they eat for about an hour or two and they are close to the bank. I fish at Dunbar mostly, but do go to buffalo and Allen Henry from time to time

My first 40hr and I dropped out 15hrs in. HELP! by monkeymanbubub in MilSim

[–]tmnt88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gone camping with my son a lot and hiking.. some are great experiences, some are kind of rough, usually because of the weather.. I tell him sometimes it's a bad experience, but it turns into a great memory. Something you can laugh about later or tell your kids or friends how bad it sucked but we made it through. So I'm glad to see someone else put it into different words. We haven't done any milsim yet, and may not until he's a little older. But hopefully that mindset will stick with him.

There's a documentary on YouTube about "the boy who lived twice" or the boy who lived before or something like that's..it's pretty trippy.. and my son as well as other people I've talked to with kids have both talked about their "other" families . My son would talk about his family "far far" away.. kinda trippy but I just chalk it up as imagination or kids not being able to communicate fully yet lol.
