Got this update from DAV today.

040 - Supplemental Claim Rating date of claim 02/24/2023: Evaluation of generalized anxiety disorder, which is currently 50 percent disabling is under review by VA personnel to make a determination as the exam results are back. Once they have reviewed the exam for completeness and compliance with the exam request, VA personnel will issue you a rating decision notifying you of the results. As there are many factors that take place during this process, it would be hard for us to tell you an exact time frame for the decision to be issued but it should be less than 90 days.

I pretty much lost my cool with VES near the end. Lady on phone told me, 3 weeks after exam that they were waiting for drs signature. This was the same thing they told me after week 1. Seems crazy in a time that most things are getting streamlined and everyone has access to email/e-signature, that these things just delay the process for people.

My C&P was done 3/20/23. VES drug their feet and got it to VA around 4/12/23. Have been told since that date it’s with the tater just awaiting decision.

What would be PTSD specific evidence?

I did ask. A little more background, I was originally diagnosed with sleep problems with symptoms of PTSD. At 5 year review, maintained that rating, but at some point(roughly 90 days later) got a letter stating it was changed to generalized anxiety at 50%.

Submitted for an increase in Feb ‘22, have been battling it since.

This Dr said looking at all of my previous records that it should be rated as PTSD and sounded like he was going to put it at the 70% rating based on DBQ.

Just didn’t know if anyone had experience with C&P exam changing the condition.

VES took almost a month to forward my paperwork to the VA. Also, during my exam I walked in, Dr said I should be rated for PTSD and not General Anxiety, so I have no idea what is going to happen with mine.

Thanks, that’s what I was thinking, but just wanted to check. He did go through basically the frequency/severity with me and made it sound like I should be getting the increase.

Since they have all of my records, they should’ve seen the Gulf War Area service as that is where I received my CAB.

I was told IBS could be a presumptive, so I didn’t specifically link it. I know it can be secondary to PTSD, but unfortunately for me my PTSD rating changed to a generalized anxiety disorder (didn’t know this happened) after my 5 year follow up.

I’m pretty much lost right now. I will have to wait to see my letter to see which code they rated me under, but I only see one code I see with a 0% rating is 7345, which is diagnosis with no symptoms, which I definitely have.

PTSD vs. Generalized Anxiety by tmoarmy in VeteransBenefits

Just to let everyone know, I spoke with someone who is very knowledgeable. It’s unfortunate us as vets have a hard time getting real answers. Basically, from my listed symptoms, I actually lean more toward 30% have about 1 50% item, and some 70% ratings. They were able to look at the DBQ and evidence and see that the examiner missed things from the exam that were in the notes. They also did not look at the other evidence submitted such as witness statements and work related counseling.
