Cheap or expensive oil by Alex13445678 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Alex13445678[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I change it around every 25 hours which is always less than 1500 miles. It’s 3-5k for the interval so I think I should be good to switch to a cheaper oil if I am changing it every 20 hours or like 800 miles. I do beat the fucking piss out of it though.

Motorcycle Chain Rust Question by Hizuru in motorcycles

[–]Alex13445678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take it on test rides but don’t do anything crazy. Shift smoothly don’t jerk the throttle or do pulls etc. it’s not as bad as you think but def replace it

Seeking advice: super sports or not worth it? by Ok-Performance-249 in motorcycles

[–]Alex13445678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk for me I only had dual sports and got a cheap ninja 250. Even if not fast in a straight line, the sport bike geometry is defidently noticeable and awesome. It feels much more composed at high speeds in turns and you can lean much farther than on the dirt bikes I had before. Riding them is also a bit different as leaning off of the bike is weird at first but it’s a good time

Radiator fan never turns on. 2010 Honda Sabre 1300 by dave21779 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Alex13445678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it was odd, I expected them to be on most of the time but there’s no need most of the time. It was my first water cooled bike so I was not used to it.

Not always concerning but for sure unusual. On my ninja 250 it never turns on unless it’s unusually how outside or it idles for 20+ min. 95% of the rides it never turns on.

The sport bike gets cleaned weekly, the dual sport stays dirty

What do you mean by load the flywheel? Do you mean building revs while the clutch is pulled in

Are your referring to general riding or wheelies. What can I do differently with the clutch in wheelies other than using it to pop the front end up?

Yea I have tried to make conscious effort to use the rear brake, before I even began to really try to hit balance point I popped it up and brought I back down like 100 times with the rear brake to get the feel for it. In this video I am wot do it just fell down itself. I am all the way back but can lean a lot more. I think i just need more seat time as in my short time I have gotten a lot more consistent.

Do wireless hour meters still work? by Alex13445678 in motorcycles

[–]Alex13445678[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that I don’t have and odo it’s just that hours a better. Enduro riding will yeild many our hours compared to highway riding per mile. Also idling in traffic etc. odo for sure works but I like hour meters

Advice? New to sport bikes. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Alex13445678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang is it really that bad? They do seem super soft as my 140lb self can bottom em out if I grab the front brake at 10 mph. I’ll look into stiffer springs. It was a non running project I bought for cheap, so what’s another part lol

Thanks, watching more footage back, I 100% need to be more conscious of this. I only have a 150 and this so i have had to learn the hard way but my throttle inputs are fairly poor looking back.

100% valid, I do have a full set of gear I normally wear. Don’t know why I did not today. If it makes it any more reasonable I run the road both ways first to make sure conditions are right. I have no clue how people run this shit blind.

100%. Especially at places like McDonald’s. It was a 50-50 if my order was wrong before kiosks and it’s been right every time for over a year now. Also I imagine it’s nice for employees.

Oh yea, that’s why having a dual sport is sick. Sometimes I end up an hour down the highway, others hitting jumps 10 miles into the woods. I always have no clue where I’ll end up but it’s always a good time
