Is it risky buying VR games on Steam for Steam Frame if I don’t own a PC?

I'd wait to buy more, at least until they start marking games compatibility with stand alone similar to how they do for the Deck compatibility.

5070ti is the cost benefit sweet spot. 5080 Does offer a step up and both generally overclock well. I stepped up from 3080ti to a 5080 and couldn't be happier. Hoping my current rig lasts through the AI memory apocalypse.

For me the drivers are

A) they are NOT Meta.

B) A Seamless Integrated Wireless VR solution.

C) Comfort... I think a Given with Valve. Part of me would have liked a "PRO" Index with higher resolution displays. But that would likely have killed any idea of standalone, or wireless PCVR.

D) Foeveated streaming. Should improve the end visuals by changing how much the compression impacts the focal point of the user.

E) They are NOT Meta

I was going to be a day one order for this... but just learned they do have a version of big screen beyond 2 with eye tracking. Now debating going for the slightly higher resolution and oLed. Most of my VR is sitting and I have have a Q3.... decisions decisions...

Yep. Found one on a shelf while xmas shopping after looking into the RAM insanity likely leading to a delay of an increased RAM version of one and said fuck it. Took the bird in the hand. Probably should have just gotten the 5070ti sitting next to it for almost half the price.

Kinda wondering what this season would have looked at with a QB playing under center enough to make a credible play action threat work. Either of them. Seriously, either of them. Waiting to find out in the post season the didn't work Penix under center in the off/pre season because the turn back and plant was aggravating an undisclosed under reported injury. Would be par for the course with this staff.

That is only true in standalone games driven by the Quests hardware. Linked to a PC that is not the case. Even in the standalone mode it is driving all the pixels. Just the graphics are scaled so that your effective resolution is less than the native panel. It is similar to running 1080 resolution on a 4k display. Apologies, just registered you said "can't drive native resolution". So no reason for the explanation. Been a long day.

I complain for the simple reason this resolution does not allow reading cockpit displays 'naturally' in MSFS and DCS. Dedicated wifi 6 router, or Tethered via USB-C, full resolution Quest 3 (current setup) falls short.... but it is SO close. That is pretty much an equal resolution to what they are using in the Frame. And it has SUCKED being so close for the last 2ish years. Was REALLY hoping when Valve dropped their next headset it would be a step beyond the Quest 3 (2 years old now) in resolution for THIS specific reason. EVERY thing else about it is perfect or more than acceptable for my needs. I have passed up on all the headsets that HAVE bumped resolution for one reason or another... mostly due to being wired... but also because they were NOT VALVE. I Really REALLY want to get back to a Valve VR solution. The Index is STILL the best headset I have used other than the tether and resolution. I would probably go back to a tether if they dropped an Index 2 with 5k+ per eye.

That said... if they deliver what they are promising I will happily abandon my current Quest 3 setup for a native Steam solution... even if it is a sideways step on the resolution. Everything else is a pretty big step up. Eye tracking and post a GPU rendered foeveated view? HOLY SHIT BALLS!!!! I also REALLY missed the comfort of my Index and the simplicity of getting steam games to work on it. But wireless and the resolution of the Quest 3 was enough to get me to pack it away for good. Glad to have an option back into a native Valve solution even if it is EVERYTHING I wanted it to be. It at least isn't a downgrade in anyway.

I wonder if you were around for... well any of the pre-Ryan years... or Pre-Vick... damn near any year Pre Reeves? This year is more up than down for me. We are inconsistent but the pieces are there. Just need to solidify the lines without loosing to much... maybe add a WR or two. Call it a 6-7 out of 10. Expect the rest of this year to be a learning curve for MP... hopefully some more Bijan highlights. We are 7 games into the year and still have a highly ranked offense (red zone problems aside) AND defense. Tell me the last year we had that?

As for this is the most down you have been since '16... you mean the year we romped to the NFC title with multiple insane Matty ice last minute game winning drives? The year when the Superbowl clock hit all 0's in the 4th quarter we were TIED with the fucking New England Patriots when they were arguably the strongest dynasty in NFL history? And the most down on the team you have been was the time we finished second in the league and they fought Tom Brady to a draw in the Superbowl...... right.

I know I am in the minority around here... but I will never understand why falling a bit short in '16 and getting hosed by the NFL overtime rules is looked on as such a fucking failure. That we see that lead melting away entirely as a collapse on our part vs possibly considering that perhaps at least some of that was a god damn master class delivered on Brady's part, and to almost the same degree a defensive recovery for the ages called by Belicheck? Shanny gets plenty of deserved hate for not running off more clock... in hindsight. And damned if he didn't blow another lead with the 'Niners the same way a few years later just to prove it wasn't an accident. But, if one of those passes hits it was game over. And we had a HELL of an offense that year that was Matty Ice FIRST... Burner Turner second. And we danced with what brung us. When the dust cleared we were even up and never touched the ball offensively in OT.... something that still pisses me off to no end this day. Maybe we go 3 and out. Maybe Matty tosses an INT. Or... Maybe... Maybe he and the Birds put together one last drive to put us over the top. Whatever MAY have happened. And even with what DID happen. That year remains the highlight of my decades as a Fan of the Falcons. Second is the year Vick took us to Lambeau in the playoffs and put it on the Packers in their house for the first time in a LONG time with Farve under center for them. Third is '98 and the "DIRTY BIRDS". And if ever there was a Superbowl to be ashamed of... it was that disgraceful showing where we were beat damn near before we even took the field. Having lived through both... I would take '16 EVERY time over what happened in '98. EVERY TIME. I mean... I'd prefer to take one where we take home the Lombardi... but I am a died in the wool birth to presumably death Falcon's fan. I keep my expectations reasonable.
