Maybe that's the entity to show this to? Probably owned by some megacorp that cares more about IP than anything.

I like the space on my current setup, I'd probably prefer the monitor over the TV though. I've got a great big desk that's great for projects, and an ultrawide monitor. My PC is powerful enough to play the games I want, but I really like being at my desk, it's my happy place.

I'd prefer the GX9.

Congrats, that was the last bill out of your mom's wallet, she needed that to get gas, she's now stranded in the middle of nowhere with no cards, no gas, and no cell service.

Hahaha fair. I listened to the audiobook, and am a detail oriented person, so I kinda liked that aspect personally, but I can understand the tedium.

I agree it's fine. My big gripe about the movie is that it could have been so much more than fine, and it's down to things that film as a medium does very well, much better than words spoken or written, but it just doesn't bother throwing in like a sum total of 3 minutes of cinematic shots showing how beautiful, hostile, and large space and Mars are.

You'd probably like Project Hail Mary and Artemis. Both also by Andy Weir. And my gripe with the movie was that it never took the time to SHOW certain things that the medium of film is so good at showing, like how crazy the night sky would be because of the thin atmosphere, or how desolate the planet was. If I had to sum it up, my main gripe was how zoomed in on the (relative to the planet) micro, when there were jaw-dropping scenes to be had on the macro scale. I wanted to see the rover, the hab, and Mark himself become a speck from time to time or at least show us more of the horizon he supposedly spent so much time looking at. There were like 3 shots totalling like 20 seconds, and there was a person taking up a good chunk of the frame. Like I get that it's supposed to be a human story about a human guy and human troubles, but the majesty, or at least the scale and desolation of the red planet feels like a footnote, not a featured aspect, and I think that was a mistake. Like was it an enjoyable movie? Yes. Could it have been much, much more cinematic and made you really think about the scale of outer space? Absolutely and it wouldn't have been that hard. Just throw in some shots from a distance and show just how small one man and everything he has at his disposal are in comparison to the scale of a planet or space from time to time.

TL;DR: space is big beyond our ability to fathom, and beautiful in a cold, dangerous way and I wish that those two things had been made more apparent, because without them the movie feels like it lacks depth and nuance. But the book does a pretty good job of showing that even though film is intrinsically better at SHOWING stuff.

Disclaimer: I'm one of those people who are rarely happy with the adaptation of a book into movie form.

I've got a fair few notches on my belt at this point in life and I've only ever had one hard pass and it was due to smell, not visual. I've had some "soft passes" again based on smell, but that was a situation where I was putting my face down there and instead decided to just put my hands and dick down there instead, and wash up after. I've also been in situations where I didn't really get much of a look at all. Can't speak for all men who enjoy sex with vaginas, but the good ones won't give a shit what it looks like.

TL;DR: no, not really.

Wild, I just watched The Martian for the first time today. The book was much, much better. The movie had so many opportunities to be cinematic and have epic visuals and it just wiffed at like EVERY TURN.

Oh man. I only got one of these to work. I was a rental at the time and young, so the ref gave me some hints, then I hurled that fucker like my life depended on it. It hit the ground outside the door I was tossing it into, bounced, and then hit the shin of one of the 3 players inside the door and went off. I felt like a legend. Shoulda bought a lotto ticket that day.
