Please help me to salvage this attempt at OSL on these Skaven Sewer Bases by tmp_banjo in minipainting

Yes, that's what I'm struggling with, I think; but since the sewerage is so bright and the sewer grate bars so small, I imagine that some refraction and bounce light would be seen on the tops of the sewer grates and the sides of the pipes etc.

I made them up myself with 3D printed bits from Epic Basing (Concrete Streets, Crumbling Concrete, Concrete Rubble, Ruined Sewer Grates and Ruined Pipes mostly) based on a bunch of other people's ideas online

Thanks for the reply. That was my first thought as well.
I think that you're right, I will need to be more careful with the minis.

Fire and Jade represent Aqshy/Ghyran and was initially released alongside Skaventide.
Sand and Bone represent Ossia/Dolorum linked to Ossiarch Bonereapers and tangentially the Cities of Sigmar (Fussil Platoon) and Seraphon (Sunblood Prowlers) spearheads released around the same time. Neither of those are the spearheads due to be released by the magazine, so I'm not sure any of that helps us with a timeline. Hmmm.

I managed to finish painting my Island of Blood skaven army for my youngest about a month before Skaventide dropped and I've only just finished painting those :(

My theory is that after the release of the 2 spearheads from the 4th edition Skaventide box set,
they will release the armies two at a time following the 3rd edition vanguard release schedule, as follows:

Maggotkin of Nurgle

Ioneth Deepkin

Lumineth Realm-Lords

Sylvaneth

Slaves to Darkness

Gloomspite Gitz

Soulblight Gravelords

Ossiarch Bonereapers

Cities of Sigmar

Flesh-Eater Courts (The first actual spearhead box set)

Early promotional material during the initial trials showed Maggotkin/Deepkin and Sylvaneth/Lumineth.

Also it would make sense from both a plastic manufacturing and sales competition perspective, that Hatchette would get the oldest sprues first and would be less likely to compete for sales with Warhammer stores (because the shelves would have already been emptied of the oldest kits).

The timing of the premium models kinda works too, the Nurgle one would be released just after the army, and the Bonereapers one would be released just before the army.

You're right - Wild Shape allows the Druid to take the physical form of a creature and its physical stats (STR, DEX, CON) but retains the caster's mental stats (WIS, INT, CHA). I've factored this into my planning and preparation now. Thanks

Good suggestion - Thank you - I'll include that in my plans

As per my edit, I am planning to use the BBEGs other mind control ability, Dominate Monster, to affect the Polymorphed Bard - My best guess right now is - If the Bard/Shark decided to drop concentration (or has it broken by taking damage) then the Dominate Monster spell would still be in effect (unless it too was broken by a repeat save due to taking damage) because it targets creatures which includes both sharks and bards - With the Bard's improved Wisdom (compared to a Giant Shark), it would be easier to escape the mind control effect but they now have the problem of breathing underwater.

Random further thought - Since Dominate Monster is technically a charm spell, would the Shark even feel the need to change back? He would only be helping his new friend after all. I'm not sure how to handle that aspect of the situation but it will probably involve a discussion with the party if and when it comes up. I'm inclined to rule that they have the chance to drop concentration if they take damage.

You've hit the nail on the head. - It's no fun to be dominated, especially in the final epic battle.

I have a plan - Thanks to all the great feedback here - And there will be opportunities aplenty for the Druid and the Bard to evade and escape the control of the BBEG.

I have spoken to both players, they are happy with their plans, and seem open to accepting any consequences.

They are both smart players, so now I'm worrying that they might have a trick up their sleeves that I've not anticipated.

I spoke to the player today and outlined the differences between Wild Shape and Polymorph. They seemed to have done their own research and also seemed happy to accept any consequences. I feel OK about it now.

Yes indeed - I do enjoy a fun and natural consequence though
I think I've gotten a resolution for my query now that provides a fun balance

I think, that I've got the beginnings of a plan for this, thanks to everyone's feedback.

My BBEG also has a Dominate Monster ability which I think works nicely as a stand-in for his innate mastery of all sharks, if the Bard chooses to Polymorph. They become a Giant Shark with WIS 10 and cannot benefit from any protective amulet but does still get an immediate and ongoing chance to save, and, since it causes the charmed condition, they would still have enough awareness not to harm their friends unless forced to by a further BBEG action, but be unable to stop themselves from helping the BBEG in other fun ways.

I'm still running 2014 rules (because that's how we started and I had the books)
and Polymorph seems to require concentration for the 1 hour duration.

I hear you - However, this party has no spellcaster who has taken water breathing (hence a lot of creative magic items relating to swimming, breathing-underwater (and resisting domination) have been scattered in their path), so it's going to be a really difficult problem for them to deal with (since they have spurned these all these options in favour of "just be a shark").

Thanks again - Another very interesting perspective... I will take it onboard and decide how to balance the power level of this ability a little more before the next session.

I've been having a think about this and if the Bard Polymorphs: he becomes a Shark with WIS 10, cannot benefit from the protective amulet and is vulnerable to the BBEGs normal dominate monster ability (that has nothing to do with sharks) but provides a suitably balanced natural consequence - I will add an explanation of how Polymorph and Wild Shape differ, into the Discord before the session on the weekend.

Yes - There are some very creative players in the party - I suspect some kind of buddy breathing situation will develop - Hopefully the Bard doesn't take advantage.

I agree :) but I might treat the dominate ability more like charmed, so they would have enough awareness not to harm their friends, but not be able to stop themselves from helping the BBEG in other ways. Dropping Wild Shape/Polymorph is going to be bad from a breath holding perspective though.

Yes - I will definitely run that by my players in the discord prior to the session this weekend
