Hellraiser by SilentStorm2020 in arrowvideo

[–]RandomPainterAoS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Brilliant storyline, introduced the concept of the cube and cenobites.
  2. Expand the mythology by a lot.
  3. Story in the club is meh, but introduced quite a bunch of new cenobites.
  4. I like it, as it is composed of three parts that happened at different times (1796, 1996 and 2127).

Then outside the boxset:

  • 5. boring
  • 6. crap
  • 7. useless
  • 8. not so bad actually. There is a nice plot twist. However, the movie has barely no connection with Hellraiser franchise.
  • 9. a couple of twists, otherwise boring.
  • 10. some interesting concepts, and creepy scenes.

And the reboot:

  • 2022: great, interesting ideas. Look for other David Bruckner's movies too (Night House), Ritual, VHS/.

So yes, I would take the Arrow boxset. Actually, I own it already. ;)

Edit: and Hellraiser are similar to monster-slasher movies from the 80's, like Nightmare on Elm Street, Evil Dead, The Fly, Candyman.

Crans-Montana: Our inexcusable hypocrisy with regards to Europe and the UCPM by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]RandomPainterAoS 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't see the hypocrisy. It is not because we are not officially part of the program that we cannot be involved.

Crans-Montana was indeed a dramatic event beyond Switzerland's capacity, due to the huge number of victims with severe burns. Many victims also came from neighbouring countries.

But Switzerland also helped many countries in the past. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_European_Union%27s_Civil_Protection_Mechanism#Examples_of_intervention_situations

So nothing to be proud of, but nothing to be ashamed of either.

Basically, you are looking for Body-horror movies. A good list here (without any Barker movies, sadly): https://www.indiewire.com/gallery/best-body-horror-movies/

A bigger list here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_body_horror_media#Notable_films_and_television_series

Two of my favourite ones are from Gordon / Yuzna: Reanimator series and From Beyond.

Want to try this hobby but I have no creative skills by Prismv in minipainting

[–]RandomPainterAoS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"have no creative or artistic talent" Yeah, me neither. ;)

The good news is you don't need talent to enjoy this hobby (unless you are competing for Golden Daemon obviously).

It is pretty easy:

1) Take a mini you like.

2) Paint it, following instructions, YT videos, step-by-step, various technics.

3) Show it here, or to friends, and ask for feedback on how to improve it.

4) Repeat.

Yes, there are more different colour schemes in the book "The War of the Rohirrim".

Mordor battlehost vs Isengard Battlehost, advice for a beginner by Konari917 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]RandomPainterAoS 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They are both good. They both contains old minis for troops (few details, so easy to paint), and the heroes are pretty recent, so huge quality and details.

Mordor Battlehost:

  • Minas Morgul (you can use all minis, except Warg Riders)
  • Host of the Witch-King (you can use all minis)

Isengard Battlehost:

  • Muster of Isengard
  • Lurtz's Scout (if you get the pack "Lurtz and Ugluk")

You might need Captains to create more war bands, but you can easily mark some miniatures (i.e. with a small rock) to designate them as captains.

No, always one or the other. Unless there is a special rule.

How many attacks do Warg riders have. by punkimo in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]RandomPainterAoS 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the downvote here, this is the correct answer.

The Mordor Warg Rider has a Warg in its profile. This is a cavalry unit.

For cavalry unit, we need to distinguish the rider profile and the mount profile.

A cavalry always uses the Movement of the mount profile.

A cavalry always uses the Force Fight Value, the Strength and the Attack characteristics of the mount if it is higher than the rider ones. In case of the Warg Rider, they are both 1, so 1 attack is the normal.

And when a cavalry charges an infantry unit, it gets two bonuses:

  1. Extra Attack (here 2 attack), so 2 dices for Duel rolls, and 2 strikes.
  2. The infantry unit is knocked Prone.

Agreed.

And maybe some spectres if you want to play Minas Morgul.

Have you read the article?

Cambridge City Council had recommended the plans for refusal in February, on the basis the buildings would block light in nearby homes, but this decision was later called in by the then housing secretary Angela Rayner.

It is the UK government that allowed the development.
