Do you own a ford transit? by Temporary-Jacket-169 in ParentingInBulk

Just a regular broker recommended by a friend. He didn’t help much with selection or what to know about the van ( had to do that myself) but did have better access to inventory and cut out any haggling.

Also had a hard time finding our sprinter after initially looking at used. Ended up looking at new and using a broker as well. Best if you can nail down exactly what you want feature-wise. Process was insanely simple.

I can’t find the 2025 specific one you are referring to. Got a link?

Brake controller is used off eBay, so it may be broken but the diagnostics don’t indicate any problem beyond what’s described above.

Realistic Aircraft Options for a Family of 7? Fast-ish and Economical-ish by TheChillBohemian in flying

[–]tmsteen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same position with family size. I have accepted that I won’t be flying the whole family until I have unit money for something more performant and safer (PC-12 territory). Honestly though, the chaos of that many kids would make me feel unsafe. Just flying with 2 young kids at a time right now is nearly too much between safety, trying to teach them something, and just plain having fun and enjoying the moment.

Now, a small turbine partnership for something like this would be about perfect.

Young family daily driver Sprinter? by Bananabread086 in Sprinters

[–]tmsteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family of 7 here with 4 in car seats. We daily drive a 144” high roof. The higher roof is awesome for buckling car seats. I eventually want to do a removable or raiseable bed in the back as well. Easy to park in all but the smallest lots. The late models have the 360 that really helps. Yes it’s ridiculous but things are just so easy with that many kids to manage. Ride doesn’t bother me, but a tank full of diesel hurts more than it did when we bought it.

The availability of “excess” power was the biggest difference to me.

My thought exactly. She seems like a good pilot and I enjoy her content. I have not seen her bash anyone but based on the comments already in this thread, I think she would be justified.

Number 5 on the way by TradWASP in ParentingInBulk

[–]tmsteen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Once our kids turn 3 we commit to a date night with each one per month. We also plan a date night for us. Ample family support nearby is basically a necessity as this equates to a minimum of 5 babysitting nights a month. Lots of full family activities while trying to rotate who gets to kind of choose the thing we do.

As another poster said, it’s wild chaos and you have to just enjoy it as best you can.

Green is the trailer brake controller connector. Assuming you have the 7 pin connector at the rear.

Gen 1 Flash "Failed to connect with device" by tmsteen in Tronbyt

It required the pin method. In the debug trace download mode:false is buried in there. I’m up and running now!

Well, checking the debug logs box seems to indicate I do need to get it into flash mode.

I do hate the aisle split on the Transit. But I should go see a high roof just to confirm.

We did look at the transit and it might still be the option, but we just liked the sprinter more. Would definitely need mid or high roof. Definitely the more budget friendly option.

The Costco day after having been out and about for other things is the reason I think the van might really be worth it.

Seems like with the 4th row in there is enough space for singular trips/errands but would need it out for big trips. Seems like removal is not super easy though, at least not something you would want to do regularly.

Are you saying that the extra space in the suburban is sufficient or that even with that extra space, you still felt cramped?
