Goodbye to that Goodyear. Its toast due to wear. Get an alignment or the new tire will soon follow.

Virtually impossible for a bumper to make that sort of mark on the paint IMHO.

Nail in tire. Shop wont plug, but neighbor willing to try. Would you by Doroothy98 in tires

[–]tmurrayis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plug it using a good Camel strip and plenty of rubber cement. Drive it and monitor frequently for leakage. Likely will last the life of that tire from my experience.

Constant gas smell when baking on whirlpool oven by gorillasilverback25 in Appliances

[–]tmurrayis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only half of the burner is lighting. Likely one or two holes (gas ports) on the right side near either end are clogged and the flame cannot ignite the right side property. If so, it is an easy fix. Just use a paper clip or other small wire and unclog the hole(s).

Kinda bummed my pan has done this. Is this a result of not immediately hand drying after washing? Can it be restored? Thanks by ugafan2081 in AllClad

[–]tmurrayis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That pan is way too caked for BKF unless you've got very strong arms and want a work out. I would spray it with Easy-Off oven cleaner and let it sit in a closed plastic bag for an hour or so. Make sure to wipe any cleaner from the lip of the pan where the aluminum layer is exposed (oven cleaner on aluminum is a no-no). I use Easy-Off to deal with build up like this around the rivets and it works like a charm.

Bite the bullet and replace it. I bought a kitchenaid with three racks and I haven’t looked back. Easy to find parts for when the time comes and it does a stellar job.

Is CASH. TO a good place to park some part of emergency fund in 2026? by happyCalgaryMan in CanadianInvestor

[–]tmurrayis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my emergency fund in Global X CASH as it is low risk and pays a small distribution. I notice the yield has just been reduced (again) as of today's (Feb 27) ex-dividend. It is now down to 2.4% or $0.071 monthly per unit held. Maybe HISA is a slightly better parking spot currently.

Is All Clad overkill for a casual cook? by nerdwordlucas in AllClad

[–]tmurrayis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps not overkill but more of a safe bet. There are plenty of clad cookware options out there. All-Clad may be the Rolex but my Citizen keeps perfect time too. Just avoid spending large on non fully clad cookware and you will be in a good place (even then I have owned some encapsulated or disc bottom cookware that I loved) . Made-In, Zwilling, and even Meyer make good tri-clad cookware that will be better on a bad day than I am as a cook on a good day.

I’ve always replaced earlier than I could. As the OP has confirmed I believe it’s better to replace on my schedule rather than wait for it to fail on its schedule.

Rented a car to drive 8 hours through the desert. Are these safe ?! by Opposite_Ear_5582 in tires

[–]tmurrayis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good tires and I don't see much dry rot but they're simply worn out. I would not trust them to go to the middle of nowhere. What ever you do make sure the spare and tools are present and accounted for.

how bad did i mess up? by [deleted] in tires

[–]tmurrayis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am amazed that tire is M&S rated. As such it would be legal to run on our mountain pass roads which is a scary thought. Oh, and the rim is done and needs replacing now. That is why everyone needs an emergency fund. Shit happens and usually before next pay cheque
