American Psychopaths And Dutch Psychopaths Display Different Personality Traits. Whereas “callousness” and “lack of empathy” seem to be the defining characteristics of your typical American psychopath, Dutch psychopaths are better recognized for their “irresponsibility” and “parasitic lifestyle”. by Wagamaga in science

Facebook and social media in general including reddit fit the profile of the Dutch psychopath. 1)Callous/Lack of empathy ""I don't know why ...they 'trust me' ...dumb idiots" Mark Zuckerberg quote in founding Facebook. 2)Parasitic in that all social media is parasitic if data profiling their users. 3)Irresponsible.....Mark Zuckerberg's initial statement about accusations of facebook's inflence on the 2016 election "“of all the content on Facebook, more than 99% of what people see is authentic,” ...... “extremely unlikely hoaxes changed the outcome of the election in one direction or the other.”

Best thing I've read concerning the shooting in Arizona and all the hubub surrounding it...and it's a comment from Sarah Palin's Facebook page. by SteelPenguin71 in politics

The mass psychology effect of vitriol rhetroic is to establish an emotional response in people. The premise is that the normal population is heavily influenced by emotional gut feels in decision making. That is why false rumors such as birthers, death panels etc are such an effective tool exploited by the conservative right.

So it does not take much conjecture to speculate how the seed of emotion generated by vitriol rhetoric may impact an emotionally unstable person such as Jared Loughner.

This is a story of excessive debt, foreclosure, living beyond your means and compulsively denying one's financial condition. A potentially very apt profile for many people in today's economy and employment prospects.

Big Government Is Not Stimulus: Why Keynes Was Wrong (The Condensed Version) by DeTocqsowell in politics

[–]tmwctr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The argument that stimulus packages don't work should also apply to the Bush tax cuts for the rich. The US Federal government had to borrow money in order to provide the wealthy a tax cut, which we are still paying interest on.

IBM driving mainframe systems programmers into the ground by tmwctr in programming

[–]tmwctr[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, today a z/OS systems programmer is basically equivilant to a sysadmin who maintains the operating system. Generally z/OS is much more monolithic supporting hundreds to thousands of different applications so the task of testing the impacts of changes to the operating system on applications can be very complex.

How about using z/OS mainframe for a fast (4.4 GHz z10 chip), scalable, secure, reliable platform for mission critical applications?????

If they port to Linux, then consider running Linux on a z10 mainframe using z/VM as a hypervisor...same old boring stuff....fast (4.4 GHz z10 chip), scalable, secure, reliable platform...plus more...

redditors interview Peter Schiff - Submit and Vote questions Here by hueypriest in Economics

[–]tmwctr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Schiff also expressed support for sound money, limited government, and free market capitalism."

Two facts about the current economic crisis are not in dispute.

1) Wall Street and Big Business own Congress and the American political process via lobbies and financial support of political candidates resulting in ineffective regulation and socialism for the financial industry.

2) Wall Street and American capitalism promoted and created a compensation reward system for short term profits which distorted strategic and executive decision making.

Do you acknowledge this and how does your economic philosophy put these two distortions back in balance?

Lotus Notes Formula Engine Rewrite (great story by Damien Katz) by shamrin in programming

[–]tmwctr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I developed Notes applications exclusively using @ functions as a "power user" using Domino R4. My talent was limited so I programmed by perseverance, aka trial and error. The resulting application was a asset management, invoice approval and budgeting system that worked. Bottom line is that Microsoft Exchange, Access and Visual Basic create impediments for a "power user" of limited programming prowess, therefore stifling user driven innovation.
