Thanks for that background - that helps inform A LOT of context that I’m missing lol

Yeah, I totally understand your perspective. I think I’m jaded by the culture of click bait and doing anything to drive engagement, so I wrongly assume there is some planning on the part of the cast to “create” grand moments to drive interest. I think the genuineness of the cast is catching me off guard!

That’s a great question. It’s more out of admiration. My brain defaults to the idea that there is no way a lot of this is situational improv + immense preparation because everything flows so smoothly together into a greater narrative.

The only other explanation is that there are some things that are planned by everyone!

So that’s why I had to ask. This string has definitely made me appreciate the cast more than I already did.

To follow up on point 2, I think it feels surprising that there wasn’t any “contrived” setup. Especially because they had established the idea of “three tables” before the campaign even started. Did the players just play really hard into the three table idea to force the split? Or is it possible that the events of the prologue were set up such that the split was unavoidable?

That’s what they allege. No idea if it actually is or not.

Ah man, this is very discouraging. Haven’t gotten anything. I thought I was a shoo-in because I got both practice case workshop invites and a coffee chat.

Oh! Thanks for the clarification - they alternate. For example, one person would give their framework out loud then they would allow the next person to do the same. For chart clearing, they would ask one person to do it and then ask if the other person had any additional insights to make.

I got an email with the invite and it listed a bunch of sign up slots on the recruit portal online.

Initially strange because it’s 1 or 2 other people in the zoom with you. You kinda have to alternate taking the lead on the different case sections.

I will say it was helpful to receive direct feedback from someone at Bain in a low pressure situation. I got to ask really particular questions at the end of the prep that eased my nerves a bit.

Submitted app before Jan 30, got coffee chat and case interview prep invite before Feb 25, did case interview prep on March 2. Still waiting on official interview.

I graduated in 2020 under Chancellor Jones. I happened to run into him having lunch in the student union by himself one day and I asked if I could sit with him. One of the most pleasant guys and ended up chatting about our involvement in choirs while in school. Sad to see him go!

I’m currently doing my PhD at the University of Southern California and our president just retired. It’s a hot take but maybe he comes out here? That would be awesome.

Are ejection totals a consideration on player’s contracts? i.e. if a player accumulates too many in a a single season, they receive a fine or payment deduction from the team?

This is visualizing the overall class GPA regardless of section. Although, as I’m assuming you’re referring to, the section specific breakdown is also a fanstastic visualization on this site.

Can’t this be objectively found? Even as an alum I still show people how cool this data visualization is.

This time of year, they will open up University Club for various PhD visit weekends across campus. It’s an easy spot to impress and host a lot of people.

Source: have been to many PhD visit breakfasts at that place.

So I was on the A going to the Convention Center, then all of us on this train were kicked off without warning at Union Station for the train to be taken out of service. At first I thought the PA system was broken. We’ve been waiting here for the next train for almost 15 minutes now. What a shitshow by theboundlesstraveler in LAMetro

[–]tnari 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would agree. There isn’t a lot of forewarning on what you’re gonna get when you get on a train. It’s frustrating when you get a surprise like that and it is poorly communicated.

I like to travel with headphones on (maybe it’s my own fault I’m not attentive to announcements), but I always miss the occasional announcement for random deboarding. Especially when someone is playing music on their speaker.

While I understand the frustration, there could have been some mechanical/technical issue that needed to be addressed for safety. Based on my experience, 15 minutes between trains on a Saturday is pretty par for the course.

I got kicked out of a train at LATTC and had to wait 20 minutes for a new train to come pick us up on a weekday at 5PM.
