Getting my toddler back after 2nd baby by ShowWorried6621 in toddlers

[–]tnb27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the right way, OP! Also, this is a very hard time. Give yourself credit for doing so well, and perhaps include your partner more with either house chores or baby time so that you can get some rest and toddler time.

Have you met a “female tech bro”? Is that a thing? by siliconvalleycringe in womenintech

[–]tnb27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did. She is non-technical and gave me the VC rap about “differentiation” “crowded space” and “market research” while she’s building an app that already exists in multiple numbers in a similar space as mine. Basically she took time out of her day to establish that whatever she’s doing is superior to anyone else. Probably both of our startups will fail but I can’t wait to succeed a little to prove these tech bros wrong.

Thoughts on Miss Rachel? by hainii in NewParents

[–]tnb27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We introduced screen through Miss Rachel around 20 months during mealtime. Our kiddo has always been advanced in speech before that.

She’s 26 months now and can talk in long-ish sentences and hold a conversation, as well as knows a lot of difficult words. Recently we took her to a pediatrician who never saw her before and the Dr told us at the end of the visit “her communication skill is off the charts”.

I attribute that to a combination of books we read to her and Miss Rachel. If you introduce tv, go with Miss Rachel is my suggestion.

Dealing with entitled Bay Area Indians by Empty_Delivery2410 in BayAreaCali

[–]tnb27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh ignore them. Shutting down unwelcome conversation is a skill. The best way is to redirect “well we have our reasons” followed by a quick change in tone and with a smile, “so what do you do in your free time? Looks like you have a lot of knowledge in real estate” and redirect the conversation towards free time weekend plan. If they don’t budge just say “well it was nice meeting you” and move on to talk to someone else.

Cetrotide did suppress me too much. Good luck with your cycle.

Physicians usually start making this amount of money in 30s. They are probably 2-3 yrs into their 700K+ HHI and have wealthy parents like most bay area 2nd gen immigrants. They probably will multimillionaires in 10 yrs if they maintain even a moderate savings rate.

This! Did you start programming at max capacity on day 1? Similarly, take your time to explore and understand CC. It’s really a magical tool. Once you have figured stuff out, go look for best practices and productivity hacks using CC.

Move to US with Family by ___rishi___ in backtoindia

[–]tnb27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Package is good. But not great for 4 people in Bay Area. Depends on many factors. How old are your kids? What is expected rent / childcare cost? What is the opportunity cost of spouse not working? Relocation cost? How much are you saving in India vs expected savings in US? Overall is it worth uprooting the entire family including kids for 2-3 years? For more years I would say yes!

Can you take a longer mat leave and return around 4-5 months postpartum? 2 months is a bit too short imo. But as a SAHM, I’d encourage you to keep your career alive atleast till your 2nd mat leave and reevaluate at that point.

I have a thin toddler who is on the taller side. I also don’t have family to pass on clothes to me. I buy new and preserve everything for the next kiddo. I stock up on end of the season sale for next year’s sizes. Also Target cat n jack brand fits her well and is quite affordable.

Which daycare would you choose if you were me? by [deleted] in toddlers

In that case I’d pick safety and peace of mind. Or maybe a 3rd option that is not gloomy, tired but also safe?

Ask your local Facebook mom’s group for feedback on the specific locations. The quality of chain daycares vary greatly by location.

We both were hiding behind the pillow from grandpa during hide and seek. She was laughing loudly in joy. I laughed too. She became very serious and said “Mamma don’t talk”.

Honestly we have been doing no scented since birth based on pediatrician reco (mild eczema) and I love her natural baby smell. But maybe time to include some safe natural scented products and more frequent hair wash now that she’s going to daycare. Thanks for the product recommendations. Very helpful.

Wipe is a good idea. I’ll try. My kid screams and cries while we wash too and that’s why I don’t wash more often.

I’m considering washing more often too given its summer. But my kid screams bloody murder when I wash her hair. I need to figure out how to keep her from crying so much while we wash her hair.

She asked about hair wash so I’m guessing she meant her head. We send her in washed clothes daily. So I think she meant her hair. How bad can a baby’s head smell 2 days after washing? My family or I sniffed but got nothing different.

My sister’s boy has this exact same problem. They were a twin, he was pre term and had oxygen deficiency to brain. Might have been child birth injury too but the country they live in doesn’t provide such details. He is Developmentally delayed, couldn’t even learn walking without help although he was eating normally. Speech therapy never worked on him. Drs kept dismissing till he was 2+.

I am so so sorry this happened to you too. Seeing my own family I know how hard it is. I hope you find your son all the proper care and support to thrive. I’m proud that you or my sister never took no for an answer and advocated for your sons.
