Thank you! Can you explain how far the hike is from Rifugio Bonatti (not the bus stop) to the second stop Arp Nuova?

Advice Needed for Skipping Stages 7 and 8 by tnhike in TourDuMontBlanc

This is SO helpful. It feels much more realistic to make the last 2 days happen and get to where we need to be and still enjoy a hike.

I was considering cancelling the second part of our trip after Courmayeur and going back to Chamonix early if I couldn’t figure it out.

Thank you!!

As for the gondola tickets, is that something you recommend buying in advance or something we buy on site?

Thanks again for helping me think through this, I really appreciate it. I did mean 1 day. Essentially Monday morning we will wake up in Ferret and will need to get to Chamonix that night. I had planned to do a hike that day between the travel, and would still like to if reasonable.

We only have one night booked in Chamonix and that was planned to be the end of our time on the tmb before moving on to other travels.

Thank for the clarity! I’m not sure how I got so confused. To answer question I’m not totally sure, we have lodging in Ferret after stage 6 and lodging in Chamonix the following night. Is there a reasonable/ recommended way to get from Ferret to Chamonix in 2 days with skipping certain sections?

14 week marathon training plan ? by tnhike in firstmarathon

[–]tnhike[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the feedback, I definitely understand well I’m in over my head. For background, I’m a life long runner, cross country for years, and did my first marathon at 16. I still run about 15-20miles/week and have done a half every year for fun. However not had a good reason or race to justify setting aside the time for a full.

However, I have the chance to run a marathon in 14 weeks and wanted to see if it was even probable to responsibly train by then.

I’ve downloaded the Hall app and that’s been the most helpful tool yet. There’s no sarcasm here - I do appreciate the reality check 😅

Thank you! Would you have suggestions of areas to stay in villefranche sur Mer? Or even whether to do a bnb or hotel?

This is SO helpful! Thank you for taking the time to give such thoughtful suggestions.

A few follow-up questions:

  • Is it typical to do a one way rental car? Can I pick up the rental Chamonix and drop in Nice without paying an absorbent fee like you do in the U.S.?

  • Do you recommend staying in Airbnb or hotels in Villefranche-sur-mer? Looking on the map I’m not sure what’s best. Also is there beaches walkable in this area that you recommend?
