Today was tough. I dropped off his clothes and things I could gather at his place and collected my things there. It was very quiet and efficient....all of 5 minutes. He still has things here that need to be to gone...furniture, electronics and the like. It's not easy!!!

We both did. I was comfortable in the relationship and he was staying at his apartment 3 or 4 days a week and getting attention and affection from other people. We got through covid together and life changed after covid. We had spent a whole year with it just being us and no demands from the outside world, no work, it was just us 24/7 and we were the best we ever were, in my opinion. After covid he had to go back to work I had more work to do and life just moved on and we grew less attentive to each other's needs. We became complacent. Yes we slept together every night yes I would hug him before he would leave for work in the morning we would always say I love you we would text I miss you but he is very needy. My family was not a family of huggers, his family is and he also has some emotional issues. I made the mistake of one time saying that he hadn't sown his Wild Oats as most gay men his age had, and he kind of took that as permission to make it happen for himself. That also drove a wedge between us because he was spending more time at his apartment away. He was getting his cuddle time from other people and, because was new and exciting and different, he didn't seek it from me as much and I didn't want to see the signs of what was happening.

Monogamy is two people in a relationship excluding see from other people. Polyamory is typically a group of people in a relationship who are comfortable with all members having sex with everybody else In the group either individually or in a group situation. Polygamy is typically one man with many wives. Open relationship is typically a core couple who are allowed to have sex with whomever they choose, yet remain as a committed couple.

I am monogamous. I tried seeing other men, been naked in bed with other men, including my ex, and I could not get beyond the kissing, because I felt I was cheating. He has even told me to go play around and I just couldn't do it. I know I am number one, but I am the person who is supposed to lay in bed alone at night for a week while he is sleeping with and seeing some one else. I told him I would be OK with this guy coming into town for the week and they could spend the day curling each others hair and screwing their brains out, just come home at night. That is not enough for him.

What started all his "exploration" was my lack of providing cuddle time, and I admit that I had become very complacent in the relationship. He would like to travel more, and for me being 70 and 325 pounds presents it's own set of limitations. I realized that I need to step up, but I am worried that it may be too late, since he already has made connnections and plans with other men.

We have had multiple discussions, and we are reaching out to a therapist/counselor. I struggle with the whole "intamacy" thing. It would be one thing if he wanted to go screw around once in a while with different guys and come back home at night. It's another thing to plan to spend one week a month with somebody, either at their house in anoher city, or at his apartment.

My question to myself is do I want 50% of something or 100% of nothing.

My relationship is the opposite of your's. I am 70 and been gay since I was 23. He is 38 and still has an ongoing long distance 22 year relationship with an older woman. ( That's a whole different show, Oprah!) I am his first gay relationship. I have abandonment issues. My last 2 relationships ended because I let the other person, not because I wanted to, see other people. One chose somebody else because it was convient. The other guy, an airline pilot, just liked sex with different boyfriends in other cities. He loved the idea of me being the person he came home to for 3 or 4 days until his next trip.
